View Full Version : 1.6 Cav engine into 1.2 Nova (Race only)

Hi, im new to this forum and got my first nova a few weeks ago of a guy down the road who wanted it off his drive.

It is a G reg 1.2 Merit and I was wondering whether the 8v 1.6 Cavalier engine is exactly the same as a Nova GTE/GSI engine and would it be easy to wire up? As ive been offered an engine and I was hoping i could put it in and race it with the 1.6 CVH fiestas at Grimley raceway. Also what sized webber would be about the right size for a 1.6 sr engine?

Nova SR engines are 1.3 and 1.4, what is the engine code off the cav engine?

Which is the 1.6 nova engine then?

All i know is its a 1.6 8v cav engine, which engine code do i need?

The model number.

1.6's came in Nova GTE's and GSI's.

Can you post a pic up of the cav engine?

I thought Cav 1.6s were carb engines opposed to the Nova 1.6 which is MPI.

Any answers on how easy they are to wire in? It only needs the basics as its goin 2 b raced.

Depends what engine it is, likely very easy if its carbed.

Think the cav engines are 16sv, they are only 85bhp iirc, think if you use the nova gte (e16se) cylinder head it makes it the same spec i.e 100bhp.

And do you think ill have any chance against 1600 CVH Xr2's?? Novas handle quite well if you camber the wheels dont they?

i have a 16sv in my nova it was easy to fit only thing that was abit strange is that all the sv's out of mk3 cavs have a ecu even though there carbed but its easy to wire up ,theres a few xr2's around my way and i can pull away from them.
