View Full Version : possiable turboing, buy using td manifold??

Is it possiable to fit a 1.5 TD manifold on a 1.4 SRI and use the turbo aswell, to make a cheap little turbo, me and my friend spoke about it and he rekons it can be-done, is this true or is he filling my head with **** lol

I am well up for trying this lol.

Please let me have info...

It cant be done.
The manifold ports are completely wrong, and the turbo isn't suitable for a petrol engine.

oh kk, so filling my head with **** lol, i've honestly neva looked at a TD engine in a nova so not firmilier with them. lol

even if the manifold mated upto the head the turbo would melt since its designed for diesel exhaust gas which is fairly cold compared to petrol exhaust gas temperatures.

I'd be interested to know if the ISUZU 1.5 turbo (petrol) engine from the Lotus elan would fit on the same mounts as the ISUZU TD engine?

Piaza! Thankyou! I've been trying to remember the name of that minging coupe for ages!

It might be the same engine as the Lotus uses. I took lots of pics of the engine bay of an Elan, but never actually compared it with my TD.

I had the idea years & years ago. I'd really like to see it done if the engines use the same mount points, therefore the F15 box & Vauxhall shafts would work nicely.
