Not sure if the clocks are origionals or not, but the rev counter doesn't work.
What does the rev counter run off on a TD ??

We got my mate Diesel clocks for his 1.4 MK3 Astra and they didn't work - Something to do with diffrent voltage...

The Diesel ones went to 6k and petrol ones to 7k

Alternator ?? !!

Not sure what it goes up to tbh, 7k ? just looks like a normal rev counter, its the 6 dial clocks but the top 2 dials are just lights if you know what i mean ?
Would a TD have a rev counter as std ?

TD's do have a rev counter as standard mate

Yeah they do, albeit a low one, 5k iirc?
If there petrol clocks, that explains why it dont work.

Yeah, its driven off the alternator, as it has no coil/spark etc etc.

I have but the diesal clocks in my 1.5d van and they work fine. when i spoke to baxter he said that it works off some sort of vaccum. which is what all the relays are under the glove box

the clocks just look like std sri 6 pod ones but the rev counter only goes up to 5000rpm iirc,

if you look under the bonnet, on the drivers wing there will be a big cream coloured plug with only one wire, this is the counter wire, just check it has not come undone

Well supposedly the rev counter goes up to 6k ?
I'll have a check for this cream coloured box sometime, whats the crack about some sort of vacuum ?

Cheers

Is it not a crank sensor?

Its a diesel.....

Vacuum for the brake servo is taken off the alternator, as a diesel has no throttle.

as add said the vacuum is for the brakes

when i stripped one down, all there is, its like a dynomo, which runs round the shaft, and as the engine picks up, spins faster lol
