Well i think its about time to start a project thread so here goes.

When i first bought her this is how she looked with proper GTE hubs

And then a quick change of wheels she went to this.

Not much changed through the time i owned her but a sports manifold, stainless system and a digi dash which took ages to fit.

Then came another change of wheels to a cool 13" which are still there today.

Then one night disaster struck and she was stolen, an absolutely gutting experience thinking you will never get your pride and joy back.

Results of the theft which luckily werent all that bad.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i218/BiggStan/uhoh.jpg

Caused by the recovery company taking care removing her from a ditch or something

Present on both sides

So after that i had to get new parts which included a new crossmember, 2 new wings, starter motor, bumper, grille and bonnet.

Ready for the new cross member.

Whilst all this change was going on i though i would treat her and myself so i got a Mk2 GSi dash.

One day over so filled the car with all the crap ;)

Was pretty happy with myself as it was the biggest job i had undertaken on her, however after it all was sick to death of cutting and soldering and heat shrinking wires together, also with a few cuts and scars on my hands to top it all off. :thumb:

At the moment parts are at the body shop getting sprayed up ready for her to go back on the road, will obviously get pics up when she is all done.

Cheers :thumb:

so what other plans you got for it

BigStan

Will do my best for the roof i suppose but dont know what it will turn out like.

Probably just the usual, get it lowered, i have some cesaros for her which need tyres, might get some clear indicators just some little cosmetic touches really.

And why would that be ? lol

For me, (purist-ish) its suprised me not in a good way.

But if you want to mk2/digi dash a clean original rare in that red (name escapes me) mk1 nova GTE ... then cool, keep up the work.

My fave pic is the top one. Those trims looked great.

Calypso

I dont think i could keep it standard forever, it would bore me and the digi dash may be going at some point as it has kinda lost its appeal to me.

fair play bout having the modding bug, i kinda felt the same with my old Gsi (was totally original, so pretty much left it as it was) but i couldnt do it; to 'ruin' a nice example..
So im now doing it to a 1.2; where it doesnt matter then.

Well yeah that is very true but if i had the money and space to have 2 cars im very sure i would but unfortunately its not the case.
I have no plans as of yet to make any horrendous changes and dont plan to as i very much like it the way it is. :thumb:

Well upon prepping the car for putting the wings on i discovered that there was sh1t loads of rust on one side after a previous crash that i didnt know about, and the good ol' boys wherever it was fixed didnt seal the bare metal/paint back up so its gone rotten and some of the work performed on it was a bit shabby i thought aswell.

So anyway after getting proper pissed off i left it and then decided to get rid of it because i couldnt be bothered to do it and keep piling money into it , then later had a thought of reshelling it which may seem a bit overkill but in the end will hopefully have a clean rust free Nova for the amount of money i would possibly spend on another car.

So still pondering it at the moment . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . decisions decisions

Definetaly dont sell it mate, looks to be in good nic, (rare for a gte)

I'd say fix her up, much more satisfying to keep an original GTE going than re-shell it.:thumb:

Well at the moment im swinging towards stripping it all down repairing, sealing and all that buisness as it will probably be the cheaper option providing there is nothing to major wrong with it. I dont know what any of the rust is like underneath so just have to wait and see !?

Lets hope all goes well when it all gets underway, Just got to sort out space to do it and all that and probably wont start till next year.

BigStan

Sadly decided to get rid ! Some problems that i dont have the money, time or space to deal with.

Currently being stripped out, interior out the other day the rest shouldnt take to long i dont think.
