too much oil

1.2 nova. there is about half a litre too much oil in the engine :roll: its burning a bit of oil and laking a bit aswell. could this do much damage to the engine or should i drain it out

whether there is a problem or not, you need to drain it out before you can investigate properly

When I first started driving, my mate had a MK5 escort 1400 shopping trolley, and we took the mickey constantly because he never looked after his cars. One day, he thought he'd show us all, and checked the oil before work.

Upon removing the oil cap, he could see very little oil, so he filled it right to the top, I'm sure you can guess the rest lol

Luckily he parked near a drain so he didn't flood his estate lol

will drain it in the morning. only did about 30 miles with it overful. would probaly only do damage to the top end would it. better check under the rocker cover to see if i can spot anythin

Its more likely to damage the bottom end seals/gaskets.
