GSI reving up?

every now and again when the car is idleing it will randomly just rev up to bout 2000-2500 revs, how do i stop it? it happens when slowin down and you put the clutch down aswell. is it a sensor or what?

could maybe be the idle speed control valve. if you can locate it, remove it and clean it with carb cleaner and then re-fit it again

is atached to the inlet against where the throttle butterly is? held on with 2 screws with a plug on it?

yes mate thats the 1 had the same problem with mine gsi, got a replacement from vauxhall ?60 mate:cry:
