Cheers scott, but thats what I thought until I compared it to the pic that dj_wudgey sent me of his vinyl, the lettering is completely different but as it is only a replica and most people wont know im keeping it the way it is.

Got back from my first day at college yesterday as im now doing vehicle body repairs Level 1, and cracked on with the tailgate.

Only took a few minutes to get the glass out, tailgate off then put my new one on. But me being an idiot and wanting to see what it would look like once the spoilers on (having not made holes in the new tailgate yet) managed to scratch the vinyl. So going to take it back to get the top bit re-done. Quite happy with how it look though.

I took it to RS signs just up the road from me. It was £30 fitted so pretty good, same price as the one I had made up for my a-reg nova a couple of years back. And its vinyl, not paint.

If anyone wants my old tailgate for free then come collect it as I won't be needing it. Its got quite a big dent where the lock is and a few bits of rust but maybe of use to someone.

Next thing planned for it is to get a bit of metal welded on the hanger for the rear box as the securing tab broke off and the only thing stopping the back box falling off is the fact that its resting on the bumper. lol Then might try and get it mot'd as its due soon. If I can afford to get it throught the MOT then i'll look at running two cars again.

Slight update, got the spoiler on but the inner holes I drilled were slightly out and as such the washer hole is gonna need blanking off, as with the spoiler on its gonna hit the spoiler. Then i'm going to get the vinyl for the top of the tailgate re-done... Then, maybe MOT time. lol

Looks the part Steve. :thumb: If the writing wasn't as rounded and was more squarer it would have looked spot on.

Shame I didn't read this earlier as I could have suppled some vector artwork for you to send to your sign writers for the boot. :(

Steve with the rear washer, if you plan to keep it all you can get a smaller jet.

Oh and is the jet you had on there the right one? as iirc ones with spoilers have differance size/shape

I have got an old sr tailgate which I was going to trace the vinyl off of and get them just to copy it on but might just leave it for now. Whats this artwork you've got?

AW06; mines a non sr tailgate which has the hole for the jet higher up and even with the smaller jet and after grinding it down as ive got a couple of the holes a little bit out its gonna be in the way. But I dont really need it anyway so it'll just get blanked off.

I don't have any official artwork but I could have recreated the badges. All I needed was a outline and I would have worked from that.

These are a couple I have redrawn. :d

Yeah they look good mate, although I won't be putting my badges back on. The problem they had with the lettering was it isnt an actual font, vauxhall must have modified a similar font to stop people copying. They just found the closest one.

They wouldn't necessarily need a font if it's supplied in the correct way. :thumb:

If you can draw around your old ones then I'll redraw on the computer and email you them. :d

Those badges are still in a font BTW ;)

Finally had a bit of free time yesterday so I finished off my tailgate, popped the glass back in, stuck the spoiler on etc.. then re-fitted it back onto the car.

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/novamyth/Sr%20Pics/beige%20beast/Picture1030.jpg

My mate should be popping round later to change my cv joint then i'll try and look at getting it mot'd.

Really lost motivation at the moment! can't even look at getting the nova mot'd till the new year and theres loads I need to do to get it ready.

Only recent changes are my new rocker cover

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/novamyth/Sr%20Pics/beige%20beast/Picture1002.jpg

And ive removed my old door cards in favour of these sr cards I got from john h, cheers for that, although they still need a good clean!

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/novamyth/Sr%20Pics/beige%20beast/Picture1003.jpg

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/novamyth/Sr%20Pics/beige%20beast/Picture1004.jpg

Its actually a good thing they have holes for the speakers in as I wanted to put some decent ones in and this way I dont have to hack up the mint original ones.

Well, for the MOT what I know will need doing is:
Rear brakes, uneven application and the right side always sticks on.
Front brakes possibly, since the accident they've lost their feel and the pedal seems to travel further.
Exhaust, backbox has got a massive crack on it so either needs welding or replacing.
Manifold to exhaust system join keeps blowing.
Under heavy braking you hear a metal sounding clonk from the n/s front wheel.
Then theres whether they have anything to say about the repairs its had since the accident. It wasnt reported through the insurance so would it need a VIC check?
On the plus side (if there is one!?) the chassis is fine so it shouldnt need any welding!

Steve

Well as some of you may have read she passed the MOT the other day with no advisories, well chuffed! Got my insurance all setup and as of 1st jan i'll be back on the road. The guys that MOT'd it said they can write me a covering letter for the dvla so I can get the logbook updated with the new engine size.

Haven't really got any money for upgrades but tbh i'll just be happy with it back on the road, although its a 2nd car as my micra is my daily ride lol When money allows i'm gonna get a lightened flywheel and ive got another exhaust I need to modify as its a tad quiet atm.

Nice progress, unusual colour too.

Do you still have your unbutchered door cards? Are they Brown? Would you sell them?

:thumb:

Steve
24-12-09, 10:11 PM
Sorry mate i'm keeping them, they look black but if you look close they are actually brown, same as what scott parker has on his yellow 1.2

Nova_Tek
24-12-09, 10:18 PM
Yeah they are just like mine, very dark brown that looks black. Was gonna check to see if they are the same pattern as mine and was gonna ask to take them off your hands. Oh well, I tried.

Nice one Steve, glad it getting back on the road, be nice to see it this next year, and actually meet you.

Steve
26-12-09, 10:41 PM
Yeah mate, i'm glad its just roadworthy again, near enough a year ago I crashed it but money has been my biggest enemy otherwise it would have been sorted ages ago lol

Saw yours at billing but you weren't around, hopefully if they allow us a few more cars at the stand next year we'll both get on there. Well i'm going to the post office on the 29th as thats the earliest you can apply for a new tax disc when its been SORN'd. :thumb:

Steve
04-01-10, 09:14 PM
Well, as some of you may know, she's back on the road! Needs the brakes doing so I haven't been driving it too crazy but it does go well!!

Got new discs and pads to go on and it should be good to go, otherwise i'll be changing the servo as well.

Steve
15-03-10, 04:08 PM
Update from last time, had my new brakes fitted and thats all sorted now, but developed a bit of an exhaust blow and turned out alot worse than I thought

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/novamyth/Sr%20Pics/beige%20beast/Picture1041.jpg

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d9/novamyth/Sr%20Pics/beige%20beast/Picture1042.jpg

When I crashed her last year I put a dent in the top of the manifold when the bonnet folded up and squashed everything in the engine bay lol but its obviously done more damage than I'd thought and now it needs welding up. Hopefully I can get it done at college, if not i'll ask my boss at the bodyshop if I could do it there sometime.

Steve
15-03-10, 10:01 PM

how did u go about the gear link mate have some trouble with mine

Steve
16-03-10, 11:03 PM
you just have to flip the joint on the gear selector over so it reaches further, then set the gears as normal, neutral/neutral

Steve

Dunno really as they're always difficult to price, hence why i'm thinking of breaking it, and its worth more in bits, but pm an offer if you want.

Basically ive just had enough of novas, glad I decided to fix her up but after all the hassle i'm still not happy with it as it is and don't think I will be until I throw stupid money at it. Just loads of little things i'm not happy with, plus I really want something old skool AND rwd.

I really don't think I would though lol ive had my fun and I'm just not interested in it anymore, I used to get excited about taking it out for a blast, now I only use it about once a week.

I think im gonna keep her for the summer and take her to a few shows and that'll be it, haven't run her at the pod yet so that'll be something to look forward to.

yo steve, can u get away fitting the 2.0 8v on smallblock shafts if u use an f13 or f15 ? im guessing u might have to change the flywheel and starter too, to use those boxes. anything else is needed to get the engine in bar a custom front mount after that ? gearbox mount wont need modifying will it ?

For sale thread up now for those interested.

Steve
05-09-10, 11:36 PM
Well, ive near enough sold everything off it now, the shell sold well over a month ago but the guy is having storage issues so its still here. No idea what to do for a project car yet, a HC viva was on the cards but all the ones ive found have been sold

Sloth
06-09-10, 03:54 PM
go for a magnum or a firenza or a victor.

like so:

Steve
06-09-10, 04:17 PM
Firenza's seem too pricey and they're even harder to find, magnums just don't look right with twin headlights,
i'm gonna stick with the viva idea lol

Plus my mate has a vx4/90 2300 which he will eventually put a rover V8 in, and he won't be needing the 2.3 then :d :d :d :d :d

Sloth
06-09-10, 04:39 PM
ascona or mk1 cav with that 2.3 in would be nice....

No mate, broke it up ages ago, bit of a shame but i'd really had enough, the guy left a deposit for the shell over a month ago and yesterday it finally went.:cry::cry:
