View Full Version : How Much Does Your Nova Weigh ?
Been doing up a nova as a fast road/track car (thread in projects) and have tryed to save as much weight possible. Has anyone ever taken there nova to a weigh bridge ? I know i have a big block in it but still hope that the weight is nice and low.
What does your nova weigh ? (if you know !?!)
Could work out power to weight ratios !

I'll be taking mine to my old workplace soon.
It's been stripped but has an XE lump.
I'm interested in the power to weight ratio also.
Around 850kg with a xe id guess. Maybe more.

IIRC its 640kg now I think Rob! I'm aiming for the 700kg mark...
I used a corner weight guage on mine and after adding up all the weights it came to 772kg
At a guess mine'll be 785 ish as the only thing different on my car to Dars is the heavy ass seats lol.

About 900 or so.... there is a weighbridge near me. If you can stand on summat & peer through the window you can make out the weight on the digi read out (after hours obviously)

The one i have now on the drive probably dose not weigh that much as its more rust then metal...!
640 is light man ! Not got a clue what mine will be.
well according to the haynes manual mine weighs 750kgs standard so with how stripped out it is id guess at 700kgs for mine
currently, about 250-300kg lol

Quite suprising that, a stripped out 1.2i 3dr hatch weighed 800ish kg iirc.

That 800ish was on a proper weighbridge too.
Stripped out rear, buckets, 1.2i 8v, j-plate 1.2.
And a saloon must be heavier than a hatch?

I weighed mine at Donnington Park track day recently.
870KG thats stripped, bucket seats and a 2.0XE.
Could save a bit more with Perspex windows, racing redtop battery etc but other than that not alot more weight to be lost unless you want to start going to fibreglass bonnet, boot & doors which i personally don't.
Cheers

That might be a dry weight.

Not by much; the hatchback tailgate is a rather heavy bit of kit. Have you seen what makes up the boot of a saloon? Its mostly air with a couple of bits of thin metal lol
As said, Haynes could have been a dry weight with no fluids. I'm sure there was a thread about this before, as I'm certain I can remember working out how much all the fluids (water, oils, petrol) would have weighed.
Mine weighed in at about 890kg, thats stripped with cage & buckets, LET & F28.

Lol, nah i've never had a good look around a saloon.

As said by someone previously, mine tips the scales at 640kgs. With the recent 193bhp RR figure, that works out as:-
(1000/640) x 193 = 301.6bhp/ton
:D
mine was 780kg and 289bhp
(1000/780) x 289 = 370.5bhp/ton
I weight my old stripped SR on a weight bridge, and got 820kg.
Had standard seats, and a false MDF floor in the boot, 2 amps and 1 15" sub mounted flush into said floor though lol

640Kg, thats fookin insane :eek::eek::eek:
You better watch it doesn't blow away in a storm lol
Id estimate mine to be 150bhp/ton with interior in. For Pod this weekend, im going with just the drivers seat lol
Anything over 300 bhp per ton is just mental. If you got the gearing and the traction there some awesome machines.
Mine has traction tho :p lol
Meh, tractions for babies.
I like the hold on and hope option, its fun nearly torque steering into a lambo on your way past it lol

Theres nothing like carrering accross the road from hedge to hedge losing 3mm of tyre tread with one eye on the inlet temps lol
Much better to go in a straight line and then evenly spread engine components around the place.

Try this (http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp) site too calc your bhp/ton. Its also estimates your 1/4 mile time etc etc
oh FFS my gay wagon has a stonking 171bhp/ton
oh well rock on the 200bhp mods to get 235bhp/ton.
