If it has no hole in then it is already an electric type one an thus you cant run a speedo drive off the box. Unlucky

it links up to the diff as the reading is taken straight off that.

it will be clear as its just a blanked hole, will be like a flat round area

the top pic is a mechanical speedo drive box with the digi dash sender attatched, if you unscrew the digi dash sender then it will leave you with a std speedo cable attatchment.
The bottom pic is an electronic speedo drive box, it takes the speed reading from the ABS sensors (when its fitted in the Calibra), if you wanna use the box in the bottom pic then your gonna have to convert it to a mechanical speedo drive.
V-Tuning used to offer a service but doesn't look like they do anymore, this might give you a better idea of whats needed ?

Don't see why not, you've also gotta fit a F20 speedo drive ring on the diff ??
Can't give you any more info than that as i never needed to do owt with mine.

IIRC the last time someone tried to put a speedo drive ring on it kept breaking. Then the swap was made to the same speedo setup Will F uses.

No, crank sensor is for engine rotation speed, which is not matched to road speed.

what else can i use to get the speedo work cant be bothered to rip the box apart?

A ring type sensor, that people use when fitting a LSD.
A pickup on the driveshaft iirc.
