my 1400 - 1300 engine has high compression.
its 19 bar in each cylinder.
would it be my vernia thats out? timing or blown gasket?
19bar:eek:
Are you sure?
Thats like 280psi, my comp tester's scale doesn't even go that high lol

yep sure, just checked it now :(
what could cause this, timing on the vernia being out, i have a 1300 head on a 1.4 bottom end, useing a 1300 head gasket.
also new piston rings i thought would increase the compression
You should be using a 1400 head gasket.
The compression should be fine with a 1300 head, assuming the heads not been skimmed loads, and assuming the pistons/bore is standard size.

pistons and bore are standard, so i should use a 1400 head gasket.
il get on that case.
if i send the head off to be looked at and it needs skimming, how much cannit go before its been skimed too much?

DO NOT skim the head!

DO NOT skim the head!
A BP320 i think he said in another thread.
in that case the timing is miles out/wrong as you should get about 220psi MAX from that..
plus have you bedded in the new rings?

rings are new done about 10- 15 miles :S
cam was changed for a standard 1987 1.4 sr cam
il get the head pressure checked as its there, il ring him now tell the fella not to skim it ;)

going to change gaskets and bolts, sort out timing and hope for the best, must have been the timing out and a possable airlock
