I think Dar and Oli use them, and from reading on here and a few other websites, Toyo R888's and Yokohama A048R's seem to be the preferred dry tyre for track days.

Pretty good but wear quicker than regular road tyres obviously.

If thats a concern?

I use them on the corsa, I did about 10 laps of donnington in them an amost killed them. For what i paid for them they are good, there is better out there but it costs more.

Awesome tyres, basically a go between from road tyres and full on rally slicks.

Me and Dar ran them last season. Next year we'll be running Hnkook Ventus rally slicks.

why will you be running hankook?

Lee

Because Dar did a test run with them at Combe, and quite frankly, they are fapping awesome!

No, theyre trackday tyres, were going for full on slicks.

These are the tyres i'm using. They are better than the R888's but then again they are more expensive and not road legal.

I went with for the ones with the slight gooves so that I could use them at Castle Combe.

I really rate the Toyo R888 its an awesome tyre that grips well. I was pulling 1.36g around the bends with the R888 and last time I looked I was pulling 1.44g using the Hankook tyre.

i have used R888's for a few track days now, they managed 3 full track days and were still road legal, used them this time and the front left is now really illegal but the rest are still alright, knockhill eats front left tyres. I find them good but do notice they get too hot after a while and start to lose a bit of grip, i have now bought some full slicks for the front and colway formula 2's for the back, just trying a few things just now as never tried either and got them cheap but wont be on the track till march at the earliest

So the tyres in the link i posted are road legal then? (and naff presumably?)

Lee

Road legal yes, but definately not naff! MAtt searle used them on his Veccy, and couldnt say a bad word about them.

It all depends on what you want to get out of them. Me and Dar donr need road legal tyres, so going for the stickyest ones possible without them being full slicks is the best option. If you want to drive to the circuit, 888's or the RS-2's are a good bet IMO.

I think Christian is using RS-2's. Theyre uber grippy!

Craig. Will follow with info, i dont have it to hand at present.

I run Hankook RS-2's on the magic carpet and they seemed to grip nicely... wear fantastically (ie hardly anything gone after 5K miles and some mild track use), they work well in the wet too.

oh for the record those tyres linked are NOT RS-2's...

John

ok stu, can you find the appropriate link to Rs-2'sfor me then?

Yoko A021's are fapping ace in the only 14" size... lots of the oval racers run them wet and dry.
