I JUST BEEN GIVEN A 1600 SHORT BLOCK CAV MOTOR WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE GTE NOVA ENGINE.
IM SWAPPING IT 4 MY 1300SR MOTOR BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE GEARBOXES
I DONT HAVE 1 TO FIT ON THE CAV ENGINE AS THE F10/5 FITTED ON THE SR IS TOO SMALL TO HOUSE THE 1600 FLYWHEEL. IM TOLD THAT I NEED AN F13/5 BOX OFF EITHER A NOVA OR A CAV. IS THIS CORRECT AND CAN I USE THE F13/5.CR GEARBOX OFF THE GTE AS THERE WILL BE NO PROBS IN FITTING THE 2 ON THE SR MOUNTINGS??
I AM WANTING TO USE THE CAV MOTOR RATHER THAN A GTE 1 AS INSURANCE ONLY GOES UP BY ?50 RATHER THAN A FEW ?100 AS IT IS A CAV ENGINE RATHER THAN A NOVA GTE ENGINE EVEN THOUGH THERE THE SAME....DAFT OR WOT?

NE IDEAS OR ADVISE MOST APPRECIATED AS I NEED MA MOTOR BACK ON THE ROAD.

yup as long as its small block an f13 box is ok, i have 1 for sale if u need 1!!!!

is the cav engine injection? most normal crab 1/6 engines dont seem to produce that much powe. and they have different co,mpression ratios etc.

hmm cambridge....TOSSER!!
dont matter iv sorted it out now i got an f13/5 cr out of a gte, it is the short block and its got a set if gte pistons in it,
had all the valve seats cut gained about an extra 14 bhp from cuttin em finer

THAT WALL HURT !!
