Just tried a few insurance companies for 21year old male, 2 NCB driving a nova turbo and was getting quotes of around 3grand?

Does that sound about right because 21 is still pretty young. Just seemed abit steep to me.

Anyone know if thats about average?

Cheers Dan

That's alot...

My mate doesn't have any claims bonus and has just turned 18 and on a 1.9 GT 205 it's about 3 grand.

Sounds expensive.
Depends on whether its garaged, and the area its kept in etc.

At my dads the car is kept in a garage yet my insurance quotes for my mums area which is 5 mins away without garage is 500 quid cheaper

Yes, but you're comparing a engine transplanted car with one that has - I assume - a standard engine.

Engine conversions are expensive, but we need more details to figure out how good that quote is. Whats your postcode risk rating? Who is the policy with? What type of policy is it? Clean license? Other drivers? What car did the engine come from?

Could be very cheap, or very expensive, depending on the above options.

When i was 21 living in SE London, i was getting fully comp quotes of 2K on just a gsi. I admit the car was on 2 years old at that stage.lol

I just got my c20let insured with HIC for approx ?500 fully comp, but i'm 34.

Going for a limited mileage classic policy is the only way.

I paid ?900 for mine with the LET in at 21 with 4 years NCB, crappy postcode etc but I know car insurance in general has gone up in the last 4 years.

What companys are you trying?

Have you tried:

-Greenlight
-Adrian Flux
-Hic

hic are spot on especially if the car is 92 or older then they'll insure it as a classic. i was getting quotes at 19 with no ncb 2 cvlaims and 3 points for 1800 it helps if you limit the milage but if your using it all the time then your insurance wont be val;id if your over the liimit

Note classic policies generally don't use or earn NCB, although I believe HIC will tot up a discount each year for you.

I think the max mileage limit for a classic policy with HIC is 7500 per year, but you can ring them if you're going to go over and "buy" more mileage.

Same company, will probably yeild similar results but worth a call to each anyway.

Also try Sky, they're mod friendly - a lot of jap owners use them. Not sure how they are with engine conversions but might as well give them a call and see.

Unless you actually live in a decent area and are only gonna do 5000 miles a year then its pointless getting a quote !!
