Well finally got my new top hat done and some new boost pipes to suit. Gone from 2inch pipes to 3 inch and about 1 1/2 inch on the top hat to 3 inch diameter. Surprised I managed ot get the power I was doing with the crappy standard one on, 2 bar on these bad boys will be flowwing some serious air :D.

The engine bay is a mess as ive just started to make my loom for the megasquirt an its a real head **** lol.

Always thougth 3" piping was a bit excessive but if your going for big power then i guess every little helps, just in the middle of making a 3" tophat for a mate so he can upgrade to 3" pipe work right thru.
Fair play to you.

The top hat we have made is so much better than the original, that was the biggest curve I could get on it an still shut the bonnet lol. Also looking at doing some fancy recirculating system on it as well, but not sure which way to go about it as of yet. The new pipes just make my original ones look really girly.

Phil silly question maybe, but do have the increased TB? as if you add that im sure that would give you a fair bit more intake, or always go for TBs'turbo'd :D

the tb isnt really that much of a restriction, nor is the inlet manifold for what I want. Already managed to make more power than most people would suggest is possible on the standard tophat.

Is there any benefit to be had from running a Throttle Body and Plenum setup - like the pulsar GtiR ?

Or is it just a complete pain in the ass to setup and manage ?

yes there is but its tad over kill imo, you would need different management anyway if you did that. I can get more than enough power on the standard inlet that I can guarantee.

me mates ran 2 38mm wastegates on his tirgra phil with a turbonetics big frame turbo,

mine seems to be holding boost ok with single 44mm.

Im not using the second wastegate in normal sense, all will become clear soon ( its part of the anti lag hardware if I have the balls to risk wasting a turbo lol), mine is going to be off the road for quite a while to be honest got a lot i want to change about it and the new software isnt going to be a 5 min job especially as I start my new job in a couple of weeks time.

Hmm, painted on the inside???

Just a very light coating of Etch primer on the outside, anything thats on the inside is just overspray, can't see anything flaking off or causing any damage, done the same with the one thats fitted to mine and aint had any probs.

I had the complete intake side of the turbo blades come off an go through the engine with no trouble bar the massively fooked turbo lol

Aye, have seen that much dust get sucked thru the intake on cars at work that the shaft wheel, turbine housing and manifold have been covered in a layer of baked on dust !! Engines still ran !!
