You'd need the whole inlet, whole ignition system, and an aftermarket electrical fuel pump (facet) and a pressure regulator. By the time you've done it it would be far easier to fit and declare a 1.4sr engine whole.

tbh fark all gain to do that really. Its the cat in the exhaust of the spi that is the key limitation

yer i was wondering what to do about the cat can i just fit the pipe off a non cat nova or do i have to get a proper de-cat pipe! think ill leave swaping the carbs then lol

Screw fitting some old ****e Sr carb.
Nowt wrong with SPi system at all.
Its just HEAVILY restricted.

The throttle body, the head, the cam is very poor.
The exhaust downpipe is the size of a pee shooter, and is only one branch.

I bet a shonky old B reg Astra 1300 with a 4sp box could wipe the floor with a 1200.

It just makes so much sense not to tune the 1200 IMO. If its a matter of age & insurance just wait FFS!
