help please

iv recently bought a redtop nova and im having a problem with it. It drives well but recently when you put your foot down it gets to about 3 thou and then splutters like hell, it does this in each gear. It doesnt limit at 3 thou just splutters and SLOWLY builds up speed. Any ideas what this could be please let me no. Regards

What engine was the car originally?
my moneys on it was a Spi and someone didn't change the fuel pump to a Mpi one.

the car was a 1.0. Its had the fuel pump etc all changed. It did run fine only been the last 2 days iv had the problem.

Probably really daft suggestion but, got plenty gas?
Mine did the exact same thing when I was running out of petrol (then ran out) and the guage said I still had quarter of a tank.

What are spark plugs like?

Gapped properly?

Other thing I would check is that the battery is getting a good earth & the engine likewise.

sorted it now it was a bad earth. Thanks again guys.
