Bump (the welder man) is in Bristol now IIRC. Damn sight closer than Cornwall.
failing that Tim, hire a MIG & practice before trying yourself. Not a lot to loose tbh. If its a shambles, dont continue.
[edit] any mobile welders near you in the Yellow pages?
Tim, I can lend you a MIG welder if thats any help...
that maybe a big help stuart, how hard can it be lol. i know loas of people who would teach me local. ill pm you soon i dont think a mig will fit ib a kia thingy lol
Ill be passing your way early on saturday morning (and on the way back sat afternoon) if you want me to throw it at you lol.
its not a massive mig and takes those small bottles but you could "borrow" them from work ;)"
ok im still strugging to get my car sorted
just rang my welding mate says the car can't be done untill last next month now, the mig i borrow dons't seam to have the kick. its just "popping" on me not" buzzying " big thanx stuart for the loran of though. if anyone could shed some light on this would be a big help
have you scraped all the seam sealant out of the joints then hammered them back down (and of course got all the paint off). Try turning the wire speed up too.
i was trying on some scrap metal which i clean up first with the angle grinder, will the wire speed help with penatrashion the metal dont seam to be getting hot or the weld being deep or contstant
will some pics of the resulting mess help ?
What welder is it?
What Amp?
Practice on some flat sheet first.

Did you clean up the earth point aswell?
its a sealy mighty mig 150....try it on max power (both switches down)
That should manage it easily.
What gas and wire?
And yeah, put some pics up of the attempts.
get some pics up.
wire speed obviously sets the speed of the wire, too slow and it wont be that affect as by the time you have built up your pool it will have cooled down.
too fast and it will look like spaghetti!
firsty i tryed on this look see just bubble and makes a mess
am i being a dumbass?

Looks like no penetration in those pics(the weld is just sitting on top of the metal)
Ideally you need to practice on something the same thickness as you want to weld on the car, to get the amps and wire speed set right.
ok big thanx to stuart !!! i could kiss youlol:thumb: look whatr i did
