My mate bought this car yasterday:

Just wanted to see if anyone knows any of its history as it didnt come with any !!!

Looks like the conversion has been done quite a while.

Think its been gte'ed rather than mk2'ed as the log book says gsi !

Very rare if so.
As the earliest GSi were h-reg.

Unless its a very late G.

I know it.

Me & my mate XE'd it & rebuilt it from a bare shell back in 2002.

What do you want to know? I can tell you he sold it just over 2 years ago & the new owner installed the leather. It was a GTE to begin with.

The XE was fully rebuilt locally prior to being put in.

I know it as well. I believe the engine was rebuilt again (?) and was rolling roaded at 182bhp. It popped up here on the fourm a few months back as well. My mate who owned it is a mechanic at K-TEC and has been playing with nova's since he was 16 (now 22) so it will of been well loved and looked after by him.

Just had a chat with the lad that built it.

Seems as though in the last 2 years its had the tailgate replaced (was a bit rusty) noted by the wiper arm, exhaust may be different or perhaps just badly positioned, leather interior added (we know that was done straight away).

Cant understand why the engine was rebuilt again. That was the strongest part of the car tbh.

Still has the same battery & chipped fr indicator lens we noticed.

Nasty seats though, the drivers one is on the pi$$!

Is the engine standard ? Any info you can give me about the car would be nice. Any welding done to the body etc etc. Any pics of the conversion !?!

The leather is coming out as soon as. He wants a clean gsi setup. 182 bhp is a lot ! must have some mods done.

I'll ask my mate, I believe he had all the recipts for the engine work and rolling road graph. Cams and group-N chips spring to mind. I'm sure he bought it with the leather in it. So your at least the 5th owner.

It had a HH plating kit fitted when it was built. Suspension should be poly-bushed.

The donor car was chosen as it had mint sills & inner wings etc, rear end was very clean & it only had rear arches & new GM fr wings.

I think there was quite a bit of scabby rot in the battery tray & up around the scuttle area but it was all sorted out at the bodyshop before the engine went in.

It used to have a full GSi interior.

Can I ask how much the new owner paid?

As said already that vinal looks the part, blends in with the lights really well. Looks alot like my old Nova apart from the tailgate. If you got it cheap then it looks like you got a bargin!

The tailagate has had the section where the vinal should be painted met grey and the lights (lower section) have been done also.
