you say the higher the F number the stronger the box, this will be the second box that has gone on me. The gear trains may be stronger, but the syncro hubs must be weak as this is the problem i have had with both and the lads i know all had the same problem.

F16 is an older version of the F20, people say it has larger bearings, true or not??

me gearbox on me 2L16v is shafted in a big way, need to replace it.

Talking to all the lads in my area who have calibras, astras ans cavs, they say get a F16 box as they are much stronger... one of the lads had about 6 F20 boxes, then he got a F16 and all his problems stopped...

So does anybody out there know whether this is true, and if so what clutch do you us 8v or 16v ?? (Needs replacing aswell)

cheers lads

the F20 is the stronger box and is 5 speed
the F28 is the 6 speed box but is much larger

basically the higher the f number the stronger the box

If its an F20 then it can take upto 200lbs/ft of torque, If its an F16 then it can take upto 160lbs/ft of torque, etc... etc...
