ANY IDEAS? Ive just finished my c20xe convertion in to a nova mk1
i had a few problems getting it to start & tick over

ive discovered that if i block the breather pipe from the idle control valve with my thumb
then the car will start, it sucks the pipe so its almost shut, i can then rev the car a little untill the big butterfly opens on the throttle as soon as it does the vacum goes and the car cuts out!

the car wont start unless i block the pipe

any ideas?

Is that the pipe that is supposed to go to the brake servo? Was the engine running OK before you fitted it?

Try cleaning the ICV.

i think that goes to the bottom of the sfi box

yes its the pipe that goes to the bottom of the sfi box.
i have had the icv off and cleaned it, also tryed it plugged in while i was cranking it, and it seems to open and close correctly,

do i have to have all the sfi box and air intake/ filter connected for the car to start?

cheers
