The 1st Corsa was produced on May 1st 1982, but all 1500 produced between May 1st and August 29th were used for tests and production adjustments in the factory

thought it was next year for the 25th aniversary... oh well lol.

wow 1500 for AP/CP/1PP/IB builds, feck thats a lot. We only run about 20-30 through now, then again a lot happens to production abilities over the years (unless its the defender production line)

Good pics!

I wouldn't bet on all those pre-production models being destroyed - I've seen X registered Novas here in the UK (X-reg being from 01/08/81 to 31/07/82), so it seems one or two managed to escape in one piece, probably dealer showcar jobs. I'd love an X reg'd nova, one the same age as me would be ace :D

Yes, I know its possible the reg plates could be personalized, but considering the old farts I've seen driving them I doubt it lol

A brilliant site Duick, does it just detail the origins of the Nova, or will it run through up to a mention of the Corsa B (and show a pic of that Prototype Eco, streamlined Nova?)

Yay! Might have to get pi$$ed tonight to celebrate.

Seriously though, GM got something right with the Corsa A/Nova.

It was meant to go up against the Fiesta & VW Polo & tbh looking back, its got a far better pedigree than either of those & a much bigger fan base really. If it wasnt for the rot, the nova really would be a great car, which it is anyway.

@dannyb: My site will only cover the Corsa A / Nova. a story on the Eco will be up next week.

Good site, just finished trawling through it myself. Should prove a worthy resource esp when more English is on there.

Some really retro pics & haircuts on there.

Novas went on sale in 83, but I guess Steve is celebrating the date of 1st production, which was in 82 ?

duick

Yes, Right. Sales were only in Spain and France in 1982, started March 1983 in all other countries
