are all mk 2 nova shells built the same?

has the gsi got more strengthing compare to a 998cc?

and say if i owned a 998cc and fitted a 1600cc would i need to strengthing or is that just for 2ltr xe?

thanks for your help

No they aren't the same.
Gsi had thicker tie bars, plates on top of the turrets etc.
Both shell's need strengthening.

if your sticking a 1.6 8v in, and not using on the track wouldn't bother wih strenghening it

TBH for the work involved in stiching the bay then it's worth it while the bay is empty. It helps to tighten up the front end.

Sorry, i read that you were fitting a 2.0Xe.
Aye, strengthening isn't "needed" for a 1600 8v.

Worthwhile tho, for what it costs if you have a welder yourself.

you will be able to fit everything from a gte/gsi straight onto a 1.0 shell. the basic shells are the same, but the gte/gsi has strengthening for the front & rear suspension.

would i still have to seam weld it

You don't have to weld it in the first place if you're just putting in a 1.6.
