how do you remove windscreen scratches?

ok.. ive got this sr windscreen thats had a chain hook dropped onto it making a scratch.. its about 4 inches long right were the dirver looks out and its fingernail deep.

doees anyone know of any myths or tips to get scratches out of glass quick and easy and not too costly? as weve dried for ages using toothpaste t-cut buffers etc but so far had no luck

drive round business park car parks at weekends, theres always a screen repair van somewhere, you need insurance tho, which im not sure you have. The other option is to smash the screen and claim on the insurance, but again you need insurance.

need a new windscreen - they can usually posish out light scratched and bullet chips (no bigger than 10mm) can be resin filler if caught quick enough but gouges or long scratches are probably a no no.
