thought i would start a work in progress file as the time is coming for the MOT and i kow its not going to pass because of rust and exhaust emmisions!

so the plan is to get the engine out, replace with someting better (still undecided), and at the same time get the rust sorted out in the engine bay!

at the moment i think it looks ok, want to get hold of some black gsi bumpers if i can! geting rid of teh gsi boot because i dont like the vinyl and want the back end lowering more!

but for now just need the things doing to pass the MOT!

here it is!

done a few small things over the weekend. spent a long time removing the tape from the windscreen, changed the rear bumper, and my mate had some plates made for me, but i think there a bit too illegal!

2.0 8v?

big gra
27-09-07, 12:18 PM
yea, its a 2.0 8v out of a vauxhall carleton, was a rear wheel drive auto so some modding was done to make it front wheel drive manual, sump had to be changes mainly, and a manual f16 gearbox, if it lumps a carleton around it should be a gooden in my nova, ive never had anything bigger than a 1.6 gte!

just the gm standard one, but its got no cat or silencers, just running a stainless peco backbox. its goes pretty well, dont want to say how well because i dont want to get in trouble, but use your imagination, ill do my best to get updated pics!!!

I will try but i'm not very good at doing progress threads, get too involved and forget to take pictures.

So far I have removed the rear vinyl and thats about it.

Got a GSi radiator to fit and a different steering wheel and then i'm going to be boring and probably XE it.

Yes, missed my last XE daily driver since I sold it to buy the Celica so it was inevitable i'd end up with another one. Nova's seem to be like an addiction as they always seem to lure me back.

Adam

Youve had a nova over a Celica GT?

Lol

Lee H
11-10-07, 01:12 PM
A Celica GT-4 to be precise. It was thirsty and slower than an XE Nova and just too reliable so had to go!! lol

I like something I need to work on to keep it going.
