Hi folks. Wondering if you can pass a MOT without side repeaters? Im looking to have none once my car has been painted, but do i need them for mot? I know there a few loopholes like if there is no seat belt it cant be tested so it will pass. Is this the same for side repeaters?

mk1 or mk2?
Its a "dodgy" thing to do. It will fail on a mk1.
Mk2 is passable tho, as you can see the flash from i think its 1m out from the rear of the car.
80% of testers will want to fail even mk2 tho, last year the tester wanted fail mine for not having any.

mate with a smooth tt has none, he however just leaves the wiring there for mot and double sided tapes them to the wing with the wires running over the top of the wing and drooping the wires to the repeater, not had one fail yet, did his golf this way too

Its a mk2 gsi. So it can be passed, just? I still have the wires so could do what bieransri said.

What year is it tho?
Yeah a gsi should pass, but like i said, the tester was reluctant to pass mine.

you need side repeters from 1st of april 1986.
if you tape them to the wing they could be faild for being inscure or incompleat.

the seat belt thing is wrong befor 1985 you didnt need seat belts.
if its after 1985 you do need seat belts
if the seats removed then the seatbelt is not a testable item.
