General Baxter
26-08-07, 05:11 PM
becasue they are end off lol

yet again its broke, but did nothing and fixed it lol

having a little play down the lanes, all of a sudden i lost all power, and an induction noise that would be TB's to shame, got home, opened the bonnet, started it, runs fine noise has gone lol

Adam
26-08-07, 05:22 PM
Because you treat them ghay.

General Baxter
26-08-07, 05:30 PM
erm yeah ok,

i allways leave it ticking over for atleast 3mins before going anywhere, same with switching off,

never goes about 3500rpm 90% of the time

its even got magnatex in it

lol

coombsey
26-08-07, 05:31 PM
never goes under more like lol

General Baxter
26-08-07, 05:32 PM
it has too, lol

anything over 1/2 mile an hour of a speed bump and it grounds out lol

coombsey
26-08-07, 05:34 PM
lol you after another calibra redtop

Yeah exactly, driving it ghay.

Get it off the limiter pulling out your drive :thumb: lol

Tbh, thats not a good idea to leave it idling, lowest oil pressure when idling etc.

General Baxter
27-08-07, 06:30 PM
tar phill,

well it happend again today on the way to halfords,
as soon as it gets up to temp, engine looses all power and the mega induction noise come back,

come out of halfords engine was cool, engine ran fine uptill got hot again,
just been out started and ran fine

Adam

Thats because ive been in negative rep for about 2years lol
I think it was ian put me on about minus 150 lol

Baxter-Just keep the engine cool, carry some water in a bottle, when it starts getting up to tempt, empty a gallon over the engine :thumb:

Philsutton
27-08-07, 06:41 PM
try the temp sender easy enough to try. Also bad rep all round to any one saying big blocks suck lol

Philsutton
27-08-07, 06:43 PM
Also how much do you want for it? I need a cheap smoke around for my new job.

Lee

General Baxter
27-08-07, 06:45 PM
tbh i think its had a mardy as its been on ron98 with injection cleaner,

i put ron 95 in a few days ago lol

see my for sale thread, lol
alltho it wont be cheap to pass mot lol

but surly there would be a fault code if a sensor was down?

Adam
27-08-07, 06:49 PM
It depends, the sensor can still be wrong, but as long as its value is within the ecu's expected range, it wont bring up a fault code.

Philsutton
27-08-07, 07:08 PM
agreed, the ecu will be getting a crazy reading for temp, it could be sensor making it up or it actually is that temperature

General Baxter
27-08-07, 07:14 PM
every time it goes above 90 degrees on the gauge

John
27-08-07, 07:16 PM
the gauge has nothing to do with the cts reading.

Philsutton
27-08-07, 07:20 PM
When it does it next unplug the sensor, should go down to -40 or something an see what happens

General Baxter
28-08-07, 04:53 PM
right its been on the machine today,

1) crank sensor (yet again thats a month this ones been on)
2) temp sensor voltage low
3) air flow meter, voltage high

lol

Adam
28-08-07, 05:13 PM
Crank sensor is because the engine wasn't running when you did the test....?
Thats normal.

General Baxter
28-08-07, 05:37 PM
did it with and with out the engine running, cleared codes both times

Adam
28-08-07, 05:45 PM
It wont run with a fooked crank sensor.

General Baxter
28-08-07, 06:03 PM
it bloody well does lol

Adam
28-08-07, 06:13 PM
How, its the only way the ecu knows the engines rotating.
Go unplug it now and see if it runs ;)

loggyboy
28-08-07, 06:55 PM
Sounds like it went in to limp home mode. would be worth checking the TPS

scott.parker
28-08-07, 07:13 PM
Bax you running it on a modifyed SFI box or power crap?

Scott

General Baxter
28-08-07, 07:22 PM
engines std scott

John
28-08-07, 07:34 PM
baxter i'm with ad, it WON'T run if rpm senso is fooked, seeing as you have the temp sensor fault code, why aren't you recplacing it? they're only quids iirc.
Ps codes are stored in order of their importance

Lee
28-08-07, 07:35 PM
Just unplugging the temp sensor will show a difference, surely you not too lazy to do that? lol

John
28-08-07, 07:48 PM
what are you checking the codes with, tech 1? if so plug it in and go for a run, when the fault occurs, check on the data display what function is faulting, ie afm, cts or rpm. Are dtcs present or not present?

There's not much to go wrong on an xe tbh, you should try finding an intermittent hesitation on an 2007 v6 isuzu diesel!

Lee

Is there a woman driving it when it happens? lol

General Baxter
28-08-07, 07:56 PM
yep its tech 1,

no codes untill 90degrees, then them 3 flash up in order and car drives like a bag of ****e lol

scott.parker
28-08-07, 08:13 PM
Well as i dont know what the **** the codes are...but have you looked to see if the SFI box is split at the back, from hitting the bulk??

Mine split and did what you are saying, but not all the time, just when warm and under load..

Scott

John

Check the data display! you can even snapshot all three items!
If rpm sensor is the first code, then i'd fit another asap. Even if you've previously replaced it! Get a gen vx one, they're cheaper than chips on trade club.
If you can't be assed to replace anything, stop banging your gums about how "ghey reds tops are":p

John
28-08-07, 08:28 PM
Is there a woman driving it when it happens? lol

Nah unfortunately not! It turned out to be a faulty high pressure pump, about 2.5 k, then nearly 1k each for injectors:eek:

dont think it will scott, loads of room in a calibra lol

i brought the thing for ?300, i spend ?150 a month replacing sensors lol

must be unlucky them, i bought a ?200 ****ter, and never had any running problems lol I keep telling him he just has a bad engine! Lol.
XE's never go wrong.

General Baxter
01-09-07, 01:16 PM
FIXED lol

part of the loom which is bolted to the inlet manifold, had come a drift, and with the engine rocking back and forth on the loom, it rubbed the casing away, and touched the inlet resulting in a rather big spark, lol

all better, now even ticks over nicly :)

dont faff round letting it idle to warm up.

Just change gear before 2500 revs! It'll warm up nicely.

I give mine a good blat once a day but never redline it. Change at 6k if im having a raggle.

Ian
05-09-07, 06:06 PM

Adam
