View Full Version : Total Vauxhall Nova Thrash @ Bruntingthorpe - October.

Dougie_SRi
24-08-07, 10:48 AM
I've been on to Bruntingthorpe today and spoken to them about booking up a day in October for a Nova thrash. I'm now provisionally seeking out suitable Novas. If this goes well we'll be doing covering other models. http://www.vauxhall-sport-forum.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/023.gif

Spaces for up to ten cars, 1/4 mile, 0 - 60 and 'flying mile' times will be recorded using professional timing gear.

We're looking for a mix of cars: NA and turbo, small block and big block.

Road cars only, we're not bothered if it comes in on a trailer but it's got to have MoT and tax and road tyres.

Brunters has very strict noise limits - 98db static, 87.5db fly by. Cars MUST be able to meet these restrictions.

It will be a week day at some point probably from the 15th to 26th October.

Interested Nova owners should email photos and spec to drankine@futurenet.co.uk (drankine@futurenet.co.uk) and we'll take it from there. Please bear in mind that we may not be able to invite everyone as there is a limited number.

I'll have to check regards anyone wanting to come along and spectate.

Please feel free to post this elsewhere.

not being one for fanning marlands ego but for the "good" of PNG http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82255&highlight=bruntingthorpe

It would appear that lots of people just want to get lots of novas in one place like that possibly to spectate the few faster ones?..... erm maybe.

Spoke to Rick on phone there, expect some thread merging / additional planning going on just shortly I think. Didn't know there was already plans in progress, but hopefully we can get something really cool out of it!

I could piss about 60db on a static, but the drive by will be in the mid 100s lmfao, doesnt matter anyway as I have a gay corsa.

(Ok I know it's not too long compared to some)

I have been in the nova scene (nl/png-pvg) for last 4yrs now, and every time there is a "mega" meet, event planned lots and lots off people pull out at last minuet, but I’m not saying this will happen on this event..

I have been waiting a long long time for something like this to be organised (and now I’m nova-less lol)
but I am in the process of trying to re-shell.

So lets hope this actually happens, and everyone will attend..

If I have my re-shell done in time I WILL BE THERE!

Err, 10 places???? I don't think so. 10 cars for the main feature/timing etc. BUT more cars will be allowed!

Sounds pretty pants???? I don't agree

Centenery year????????????????? Is there a law saying we can only do this ONCE?

Don't be so negative! In my 17 years on the nova scene, the only time these big thrash/meets happen are if a magazine are involved and do the planning. Dougie is willing to PAY for it, and ARRANGE IT for a weekday in october. Everyone complains that these things never come to fruition, so why not just pull together and sort this out.

You're a member (of the club!) Who said you weren't allowed to come?

Methinks there is TOO MUCH poo-pooing on this thread. If you wanna come, come. If you don't wanna come, don't come!

Here's me thinking this was a club for enthusiasts . This FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY has been offered for us to publicise the club and get a great group of Nova's in one place. How can anyone NOT want to be there? To see a convoy on the motorway, to see us all at a mcdonalds, at a motorway service station, on the straight at Brunters, in a NATIONAL MAGAZINE TO SHOW PEOPLE AND KEEP FOR POSTERITY!

Most of you on her don't have kids, I have a 9 yr old son, and ALL his mates have seen magazines with may car in! I'm a god-damn hero to him and his mates!

The venue is agreed, the date is almost sorted (midweek-so there's another excuse for people to drop out!) and best of all, TV are gonna pay for Brunters!!!????

What else do people want? I can't see that the Club/Total Vauxhall can do anymore to interest people!!!!!!

PLEASE BE POSITIVE! Come along, even if it's only to tell me to fu%k off!

October's a busy month for me but I'll try my best to be there and spectate. Unlikely I'll be in the nova, and probably not the Celica as it may well be off the road for a couple of weeks, so I'm dependant on Alex playing taxi.

Andy_L
28-08-07, 12:44 PM
Well I'd absolutely love to go however October is a massively busy month for me with all the new registrations to process, so providing I pull my inger out and my boss will give me the time off I'd love to come and spectate.

Can someone clear something up for me please?

Dougie posted this idea on Vauxsport to which I said I would be interested in attending. I am not a paid member of the PNG, so now that its merging into a PNG members only event does this make me ineligible to participate even though I expressed interest before hand?

Not wanting to start any fights, just need this clearing up so I know whether its worth emailing Dougie or not.

Thank you.

Dan
05-09-07, 09:14 PM
its a non spectator event, so has nothing to do with the png directly this time, the only people attending will be the cars running. We are doing our mass meet next year and plans are already in the process of being worked out :thumb:

06-09-07, 12:39 AM
ok you lost me i just read the thread from start to finish and most the way through i got the impresion that there was going to be alot of spectators yet dans last post clearly states its running cars only can someone shed some light on this and put everything straight as im sure im not the only one confused

Dougie_SRi
06-09-07, 09:59 AM
Bruntingthorpe have told me they are a non-spectating venue. It's a proving ground which will usually have several events on at the same time, unless you book it for exculsive use which costs, er, ?2500. In terms of getting a huge amount of Novas together there, unless someone can come up with the aforementioned two and a half grand, it's a non-starter. TV is still supporting PNG regards both a special display at PV 2008 and a mass Nova 25th anniversary type gathering at an alternative venue.

The date for the thrash is confirmed as Monday 15th October. Applications for this event are now CLOSED we've had photos and spec from 15 owners so far, excluding people who PM'd me as I asked clearly for an email containing photos and a spec list. Sorry about that, but it makes it so much more straightforward to arrange.

Many thanks - Dougie

Good line up but I can see a few cars on that list that far exceed Bruntingthorpes drive by noise test :(

No doubt would of been up for this had he of seen it sooner but that without doubt would fail the noise tests :(

All the best with this one, look forward to hearing the results.

All I'm saying is that there maybe some people who would rather not have advertised where there car is the night before - and would feel myself partly responsible if anything should occur had I indicated any such places. Indeed I'm not going to speculate on specific lodges - I'll leave that up to people that want to take the little effort it will take to figure it out.

I love the bit about noise levels, When I did a building job right next to the airfield, the 1950's sea vixen jet plane that was being tested was rather noisy, Oh, and the Lightning fighter that can only do high speed runs down the runway is really loud.

anyone need directions?

It is probably less hassle to go to M1 J20 lutterworth, follow signs for Lutterworth, turn right at 'aeroplane' roundabout & head north through the town, thru 2 sets of lights then turn right (signed for Gilmorton) keep going to kimcote, then aim for walton, stay on that road thru the village (do not turn off for the industrial estate) go about 2 miles. At the giveway go left & the gate is on your left. no more than 10mins from j20.

There are loads of roadworks around J21 at Leicester, I am working near there at the moment, it is really bad at around 7.30 onwards.
