brakes rusty?

Just had my front wheels balanced and the mechanic commented on me front disks being rusty (surface rust). Didnt recommend changing them but advised me to watch out for it. Cars only 1.2 with standard brakes -new discs fitted a couple of years ago.
Is surface rust a problem and should there be any concerns over it. Braked a few times and it was gone. Most mornings notice some surface rust if car has been standing (or its been raining).
Is it worth upgrading discs to bigger front brakes (only 1.2 remember & how difficult is it- I have 14" 3 spoke alloys) or just getting better brake discs (recommend any?). Car stops pretty well when I brake - do alot of motorway driving.

Any advice as always appreciated.

The rust is surface rust, all brake disks do it, my EBC ones did.. Its just from condensation at night or from the rain.. Nothing to worry about :)

if it works ok, why worry about it. there are plenty of people who contact the forum who have modified their brakes and have encountered all sorts of trouble.

The mechanic obviously has his head stuck up his ass.

ALL brake discs rust when they have been used the day before a night with condensation/rain.

cheers guys - need brakes for motorway driving probably more than street racing - there are more idiots on motorways - most change lanes without worning and suddenly brake for no reason (usually just to wind u up!)

i was told by someone who races cars that the faster they rust the better the disc material is. and hence stop better
