Steering wheel puller would get it off. Or you could try removing the steering column with the wheel attached.

its just going to take a lot of effort, some aggression would help aswell. just keep hiting the back of it up towards you using your fist. if you use a hammer it could damage the steering wheel

i just had the same problem! i took out the whole colum, quiet easy, but ther is one safety bolt. you should be able to open it with a good enough vicegrips!

With determination, they do come off. Its worth leaving the nut on by a couple turns so the wheel doesnt fly into your face when it does let go.

If it is all too hard & wont budge, buy a puller from Halfrauds or a tool shop & then rent out the tool or sell it on here.

This problem has been put on here times.

My patent cure is, if the other methods have failed, to loosen the nut, wrap some towels or rags around the wheel & pour some boiling water on the centre. The aluminium boss will expand faster than the steel column, it will pop off.

Just ask iainel how I get them off, big hammer, 6 inch 1/2 inch socket drive and 4 seconds of my time. Job done.

I'd have issues with pouring water all over my ignition barrel etc, but with a degree of care I could see that working. Might try it on my TD's stubborn wheel at the weekend.
