16xe 16se blocks

Are the 1600 8v blocks and the 1600xe the same. Will a 8v head fit a 16v block?

yes they are the same

There different.
Different sump, different pistons, deifferent rods, different oil pump, hole for a knock sensor etc.

But yeah, the bare block should be the same.

the hole to the knock sensor is just a threaded hole that all the blocks have

As long as the blocks are the same and everything else in interchaneable ie water pump oil pump and clutch and flywheel, rods crank. I'll be maching the pistons to suit. It should suit my needs.
