Just been doing a search and can't seem to find any results for this.
I have just got hold of a GSi, apparently the timing belt slipped and cause valve to piston contact. (I don't know for sure yet as I haven't started stripping it down) odd though cos I have had cambelts go on an SEH and a 1.8, 8 valve and had no probs in the past.
Anyway.....
Was wondering that if the engine and head are shagged, does the GSi have a specific head and cam?
AND does the GSi have a GSi Specific Compression ratio or can i just bolt in any Vauxhall 1.6?
Keep thinking about fitting 2.0 SEH and loom if the engine is shagged (plentiful and cheap but would want a non-Cat)
But really want to put this car back to as standard as poss for now :(
