Here we have a Vauxhall Nova fitted with the very rare Mattig fibreglass body kit. (This is now, most likely, the only one left in Britain. Pls email me if anyone else owns one too!!). The only remaining handful are in Germany!!
It started life as a Nova L, but was quickly changed in 1990, and featured center-page in Fast-Car magazine alongside its tarmac rallying brother!! (I still have the original copy!!)
It features a full custom set of Revolution 2-piece split-rimmed alloys.
Front wheels measure 205/15 (9inches wide!!)
Rear wheels measure 285/15 (11inches wide!!)
The inside of the car is just as impressive as the out. It holds a full custom black leather interier. This includes front and back seats, roof lining, carpet, side panels, dash and even the boot carpet!!
The front seats are Recaro reclining buckets fitted with black Sparco 4-points. (The rear seats are therefore in-accessable).
There is also a full roll cage. (Finished in black, of course!)
There will be no stereo fitted, i'm afraid.
The engine is a 1600cc GTE. It has been fitted with an unknown set of Piper cams and a set of Weber twin 40 carbs. It has also a straight-thru Janspeed exhaust. This combo produces a very nice growl indeed, with lots of suck back!!
The appropriate GTE spec brakes are fitted too.
It has recently been fitted with a Thatchem approved alarm/immobiliser made by Autowatch. But does not benefit from central locking.
Now for the rust.......there isn't any!! Because of it being made of fibreglass!! Durrrr!! Not even the doors or inner wings!! See the pics if you dont believe me!! lol!!
I have only one problem with this car. A few weeks ago, a very careless driver (probably a jealous Punto) tapped the back of my Nova whilst it was alone and helpless!! The cowards left no details and escaped the crime-seen scot free. This has left a small chip in the rear bumper and has cracked the filler along the offside arch. I have had it looked at by a fibreglass repair specialist, and he has quoted me about ?80 for repairs.
The car is taxed/mot'd until Start of March 2008.
This is not some rubbish 'one-off'. This is the very rare and recognised Mattig Nova!!
