Aah thats the ones I like. Retro!

Pretty strong cars, they are low blow turbos IIRC so arent all that stressed anyway. It might be tired depending how its been used & serviced but worth a play with IMO. Apparently you can turn the boost up via a screw in the ECU. Wether thats fuelling or boost I'm not sure.

Do it!

If you're interested in those, have a word with saabtorque in nottingham about what can be done to them or what to look for. I did some computer work there once and they seemed to really know their saabs that they were tuning/respraying etc..

At that kind of mileage, you want to check the turbo's still good and not smoking.
Horrible looking car imo, but if you like....
They have t3 turbos iirc, and are about 170/180hp, so yeah they must only run low boost as standard.

T3 doesnt mean its a T3 like an RS.
Metro's had T3's too. Look how crap they were.

IMO that white doesnt suit it but the Black 2 tone ones were lush!

SAAbs always go like the clappers, some of the best races I've had were with SAABs, the owners just dont back off. Modern ones have spoilers underneath for some bizarre reason too. Must be the aeroplane influence.

I'm wondering why the pinstripe on the front wing stops very abruptly... surely it should continue down the door and rear quarter?

Ive had no experiences with any german car's so couldn't say.
Being a turbo motor tho, definently check the turbo isn't smoking at idle etc.

They have a great club following too, the Saab boys are always at Combe action days, and we always share video's afterwards. They are a great bunch of lads!

A friedn of mine owns an R reg 165bhp 2.0 turbo (only low boost version) 9000 and it has proved to be a very reliable 184k car. I drove it back from Brighton along the A27 which is virtually a motorway, except its a bit hilly. It pulled like a train 4 up and returned about 28mpg at 70-80mph. I can imagine the 900 would put in a similar performance, but I would insist on a dark coloured or silver/grey car as the reaale on them is poo. Saabflight.co.uk were a company recently in PPC, it appears this is one of several specialists who can chip these cars and advise what parts are required to further your power. As PPC say about Saabs, "the cheapest way to 300bhp".....

It hasnt really been that reliable and it isnt comfy and deffo aint practicle so its going, there comes a time when you find you aint got the time, money and heart to carry on throwing money on something that you dont enjoy cus its always broke. my brothers have the newer shape one, first thing that was done was to wind the boost off the gauge lol, but that was done on the actuator. They arent any worse than a vectra, slighty more exciting due to a turbo.
