View Full Version : Final prep before Llandow....
Anyone ready? Against normal tradition, I actually got the car ready a week beforehand! Only mincy stuff but still, its ready.
Had to sort out the headlights which id stolen to put on the SR. The SR's were badly silted up, and the reflector on one side was loose. I decided to try to prize the glass off the back to get the reflectors out, but as per bull in a china shop, i smashed the glass. Plan B was to mesh the light backings. Only temporary, but as most things with this car, it may grow on me and stay lol

Dar popped over and worked his magic with a few enormous decals on the doors. Cheers fella! I also re-fitted my sideskirts now ive decided the colour scheme is staying.

Other than that, just some tyre rotations to get the best one on the front left (at llandow, you will eat this tyre for breakfast, so make sure its a goodun!) and adjusted the gear linkage.
Who else is ready? (this question is aimed at everyone apart from Mr Danker, as I would imagine he wont be starting on getting the car ready till sunday afternoon next weekend lol

20p and half a bag of skittles?
i'l be in touch with you wen i'm less busy with other things..
mine is still sat as it was after castle combe, i may get round to washing it if i can be ****d. The only minor issue i have spotted with mine is the last 2 1/2 years worth of abuse may have knackered one of my front coilovers. To late to get a rebuild done now so will have to just cope with it and send them off after llandow :(

May be an idea to stick that on the drivers side then, unless its already there?

Just got to check the fluids and tyre pressures before we leave and thats it.
Good stuff, the mesh headlights will actually look like headlights from a distance lol
can i remove my drivers side headlight for the track? I've been spraying up my new bonnet today after the old one got run over! doh!! However had a reaction in the final layer of paint and its ****ed it :(
Got Donny South next Sunday, so my cars going to be taking a hell of a lot of abuse next weekend (0-60 strip there).

New Facet pump, regulator and a strutbrace.
Got an RR setup on tuesday, then it's just a case of getting a couple of tires onto my fanblade track wheels... and then checking fluids !
sweet, still ok to lob my spare wheels in the back of your van Lee?
get one of them screw on things for the steering wheel and a passenger to change gear?

Up till today car hasnt been started since its day out at combe. Anyhow swirl pot is piped in and extra pump is in. today i primed it all up and gave it a start. thing burst into life which means it will make llandow lol! (hopefully)
one fuel leak to sort out during the week. not severe tho.
Front rose joints replaced on the lowerd tie bar mounts. another issue has come to light but to late to sort that now.
need to check gearbox oil but level bolt is rounded and will be an **** to get out. but needs to be done this week.
avon acb10s i bought arent on any tyres. so they wont be used unfortunatly.
so still stuff to do . check levels / fit rear spacers / make sure everything is tight tbh spanner check ect. and about zero time to do it in lol.
whoopie!
whoopie!
So long as your in the pub by 7 on Sunday, everything will be alright lol

My other half says she's ready for a go;  .
Im hoping she will just stand at the side of the track looking pretty taking photos.
Well i think mine is fine. The reason i say that is chris has borrowed my civic and the keys to the garage the stick is in are in there.lol
But started up the last time i went around to see it after the floods.
Your car looks spot and is a true sleeper hope you can make it there. Well by that i meen get the day off work.
Had a terrible noise from one of the rear quarters today :(
Turned out my spring had decided to un-seat itself, so all is good ..
RR day at Protec tommorow so i'l be all finely tuned for some Big block bashing ha

Lee if you ever want some headlights, i have a set sat here, and some plastic protector covers! lol
Scott
Nick, move the pump to near the fuel tank.... its gonna die otherwise.
Theres two types aren't there ? ones that have to be mounted right next to the tank, and the pull/push that can be remotely located ? - I specifically ordered one that could be mounted in or around the bay
Suffice to say, i didn't fit it either. I had it done somewhere !
Those types of pump are always mounted in the bay.
Its the solid state ones that need to be right by the tank iirc.
Phew that's what i thought. This is definetly a push-pull silvertop - As i said, i ordered this specifically !
Plus the chap who fitted it knows his stuff !
jsut had a read about, they work in the bay but last longer near the tank... meh
http://www.pngclub.com/forum/images/editor/separator.gifI can see your point stu, it sounds like it's labouring when it builds up to pressure (i.e when the ignition is first turned)
Time will tell !

Well that is the norm...but I've been driving mine around for weeks now as (fingers crossed) its all working at the moment :wtf:
I'm sure it'll break on fri or something tho.
Might stick a bit of grip tape to my floor and pedals in case it rains, but apart from that I think its ready!!!
Mine has a drivers mat conversion done to stop this from happening Oli..
Mine now needs a new handbrake cable after fitting rear discs, new bonnet, new front pads, new spark plugs and fluids checking.
best get on with it quick then for next monday lol.
