can anybody tell me if it is worth putting t 4o carbs on a 1.6? i can get hod of inlet all linkage etc.. will it be worth my time effort and money??

If you're just fitting the twin 40's then no its not worth it. if you couple them with a little headwork, an aftermarket cam and a suitable exhaust then you could see anywhere up to 140bhp.

okay cheers mate. Wat sort of cams are best to use in the 1.6 8 valves i heard of some people losing compression as a result of changing cams!

A Kent AST2 will give you a good power gain throughout the range, something more aggressive will give you more high end power but make the engine very "peaky".

thanks for your help buddy. just i got the chance to purchase a carb set with everythin think he wants about 300 quid. would it be worth grabbin them with a view to gettin them on a 1.6 or would u stick with the injection system??.. its just i love the sound and tourqeyness of carbs

If you're going to get at least a cam to go with them and you're prepared to spend ?300-500 to have them properly setup then I'd say go for it. Otherwise I'd suggest you get a cam and management.

The standard inlet works very well on this engine and doesnt really suit side draught carbs really.

The standard inlet with a mappable ecu, and the same mods as you would for a t40d engine(cam, headwork etc), will give more power than twin carbs.
