another thing....

When i'm driving the car at low revs it really bogs down if I try and accelerate away from lights, and at low r.p.m (about 1500 - 3000ish), but after that it kicks back in. I've checked the accelerator pump jets and they are clear and the right size. I've been told it could be something to do with the advance and retard mechanism. Any ideas ?

Difficult to say really - could be anything from faulty leads, thru ignition timing, un balanced carbs to incorrect jets.
Have you altered your timing since fitting the carbs cos if not you will prob. need to?
Don't plumb in the vacuum advance and retard into the inlet manifold - just block it off. There is a mechanical advance and retard in the dizzy that will do the job fine.
If I was you I would go to a carb specialist rolling road - you anywhere near cambridge?

Leads should be o.k cos they're brand new, I got the jet sizes that you mentioned in this forum a little while ago. the vacuum advance is blocked off as well. I think the best bet would be to go down a rolling road! Anyone know of any roaling roads near Croydon, cos Cambridge is a bit too far!
