Cornish is down there, although I've not seen him on here for a while - shame, he's a sound chap. Couple round plymouth that I can think of off the top of my head too.

I was hoping to take mine down there when I go early September, but I really don't think I'm going to get engine in, running, MOT, tax and insurance all in about 3 weeks lol

NovaLad
09-08-07, 12:08 AM
Ahhh well everything moves alot slower in cornwall so i am sure if i see 1 i will get a pic and see if it is someones on here lol

Cheers for the replies.

BTW who is "Cornish" as you said Jack and what's his nova look like have you got a pic ?

Adam
09-08-07, 12:56 AM
I cant remember where i stayed in newquay when i last went, it was some kind of hippy beach hut resort lol

NovaLad

Adam
09-08-07, 12:58 AM

cant bear cornwall in the summer months... too many norveners and other tourist mofos lol. When I lived there we would buy loads of food on wednesdays and then not really leave the house over the weekend to avoid the greif... newquay was a no-go for 4 months of the year :D

We go in November, usually sunny (not hot obv, but this year might be lmao), very quiet, parking is free everywhere as its out of season, hoe-tels are cheap its ace.

Alex.
09-08-07, 09:05 AM
Only been to Newquay once on my first NL meet. Where only, Jack and I, Bump and Cornish and his mate turned up! lol
Was lush weather and a lush beach. Loved it, but a lot of people. But I got to paddle so tis all good! lol

Jack
09-08-07, 09:57 AM
BTW who is "Cornish" as you said Jack and what's his nova look like have you got a pic ?

LMFAO I love using a different font. It makes it very easy to spot those who can't spell copying my text direct lol

"Cornish" as in the member called Cornish! Search and you'll probably find a pic, although iirc he doesn't use it as an every day car so you'll be unlikely to see it.

I don't like Newquay at all tbh, too many people there.

NovaLad

Because i am lazy lol

I can spell cornish just so you know :p

Aint they got like loads of cider farms down cornwall also - not like i'm really into it but i'll try some propa stuff.

Stuart
09-08-07, 12:42 PM
since when has cornwall been "above" oldham? lmao

Cider is more a devon/somerset thing... its about in cornwall but usually on a more commercial basis

NovaLad
09-08-07, 12:44 PM
Edited :p ...

Is their aything me worth looking out for well i'm there to buy?? or is it all full of stuff such as: cornwall keyrings and "i've been to cornwall" tops lol

If you are in Newquay or St Columb Major goto a Peter Morris shop and get a medium steak pasty from them..... best pasties in the world!

then you will buy a box of 12 and drive home with them teasing you all the way lol

also eat some hogs pudding, do not ask what it is lol

NovaLad
09-08-07, 12:56 PM
I'm more into meat n potato pasties in oldham but i'll give the medium steak pasty a go lol

Does anybody want anything bringing back that i can easily post?? lol

Stuart
09-08-07, 01:00 PM
cretin a steak pastie IS a meat + potato (and other stuff) pastie.

NovaLad
09-08-07, 01:02 PM
Oh i thought it was like a steak pie filling in a pasty lol

Jack
09-08-07, 01:51 PM
Is their aything me worth looking out for well i'm there to buy??
WTF? Yes, make sure you bring bottled water and warm blankets. Don't speak to the locals.

Seconded on Stu's cretin remark lol

[edit] btw, Cider is Somerset territory! Although Cornish cider is nice, but if you want proper stuff, take a diversion off the M5 and get some somerset cider.

SRimon
09-08-07, 03:56 PM
I can spit into cornwall lol

Theres a few Nova's around plymouth, few being operative. A nice XE'd 45'd Track'd one, BIGS has 3 lol, bout it this day in age! I'll get another soon :D

Cornwall is great!

I prefer the quieter beaches to the resorts but its cool.

First time I saw a wind farm was down there last year too.

Btw Cornish has broke his Nova so its unlikely we will hear much from him I reckon.

I still fail to see how taking your hand off the keyboard, moving the cursor over a word, highlighting it, moving you hand the keyboard, pressing ctrl+c, hand back to mouse, moving the cursor back to your text, back to keybaord, ctrl+v, then continuing with your text is easier than typing 7 letters. Even in one finger mode I can still type it quicker than a copy & paste lol

Just used to it i suppose.

I think the best thing you can do is get a wetsuit & a bodyboard. I went to Croyde last weekend & attended the surf school 'GOD IT IS DIFFICULT TO STAND UP ON A SURFBOARD WITH A HANGOVER!!!!!!!'. With a bodyboard you simply lie on it & get washed ashore. Great fun & quite easy to do.

Being from up north, you should look for Clotted Cream. They sell it in the diet section of netto.

Just to cheer you up. When you get to Exeter services, you've only got 3 more hours to go.

Jack
11-08-07, 02:37 PM
Balls to that, I can make exeter to the lizard in about 2 hours. Maybe 2.5 if the traffic is REALLY bad - but they've finished a section of the A30 now so you should be much less than that. Newquay should be about 1:30 from Exeter IMO.

bump
12-08-07, 03:52 PM
^^ 1:20 to Falmouth from Exeter, then again I did know the times and days to travel.

Stuart
13-08-07, 09:11 AM
we used to do 5miles just outside Newquay to exeter in an hour... without breaking the law.... (saturday "shopping" days were to Exeter as even plymouth was cak)

mowgli
16-08-07, 08:58 PM
Sorry, but a caravan towing northerner on an august saturday with a family in the back will take about 3 hours to newquay from exeter services.
Any way, I was only hoping to upset novalad a little bit.

bump
16-08-07, 09:25 PM
Ah that's the problem a caravan!
I'm just a northen as you consider yourself to be, so that's got othing to do with it lol

mowgli
17-08-07, 08:57 PM
Being northern is fine, in the north, just as being southern is ok in the south, but mixing them up is always going to be interesting
I'm from the east midlands, the most deprived part of england (if you look up government spending, major projects, decent sporting teams, even decent breweries)

bump
17-08-07, 10:14 PM
I'm from the east midlands, the most deprived part of england (if you look up government spending, major projects, decent sporting teams, even decent breweries)

I know, I used to live just of the A47 about 6 Miles from you.

mowgli
18-08-07, 08:49 PM
I mean, we don't even have a comedy accent, like our west midlands counterparts, all we do is make pork pies & say "m' duck" to passing folk.
People in Bristol are lucky. You have really interesting rivers & bridges.... Then there is that walmart store visible from the M5 (its probably visible from space). They even film 3 tv dramas there. For god's sake, you should try watching e.mids tv!!!
Even the word Bristol is another word for a womans breast.......
I'm jealous.

bump
18-08-07, 11:07 PM
I agree on all of your points. The east mids is a total cultural vacuum.
Take the sensible option, get out. Before the combination of David Tredinnick, Gurpal Verdi and Keith Vaz drive you out!

mowgli
19-08-07, 10:51 AM
Ah Tredinnick, our beloved MP. He is legendary for his ability to visit a factory, then three weeks later the receivers are called in. Everywhere else, MPs open things, round here, he shuts them. The local paper scribes know him as treadinit. The good thing about Hinckley is that he is rarely there.

bump
19-08-07, 08:10 PM
Spends most of his time hanging around in Bsworth from what I remember. I didn't think that the local rag had turned against him. The odd thing is I never met a single person that had voted for him.

mowgli
19-08-07, 10:48 PM
There is a theory that he isn't real at all, he is just a cardboard cutout that the hinckley times uses to make up the numbers in the photos.
My brother had a big row with me once because I voted for the labour candidate. Eventually I found out that my brother hadn't voted for him either. I only vote labour to get rid of treadinit.

bump
19-08-07, 11:56 PM
He's definitely real, just that he has the intellect of a cardboard cut out. I've actually lost count of how long he's had that seat now.

mowgli
22-08-07, 10:57 PM
since 1986. He was the only candidate who didn't come to our sixth form to try to woo votes...The other 2 were ok, until the labour one said ' I believe you should have a local candidate for a local seat', an obvious dig at cornishmen. so we asked him where he was from....Lincoln!

NovaLad

Ok am back from cornwall and had my fill of pasties!!!

Seen loads of novas and have 1 or 2 pics but missed the rest as they drove past most the time in opposite direction.

Would also like to say if you are into 205's then go to cornwall because it's packed full with them along with VW Camper vans and GTI VW'S.

Also would like to point out that we didn't toe a caravan there we paid out to hire a 6 burth when we got there.

Lastly i seen some novas in colours i hadn't seen before and most where mint shells.

bump
25-08-07, 10:05 PM

NovaLad

There was an army green 1 aswell and plenty of MK1'S and a bluey green 1 also a mint Trip that looked brand new.

like in south wales too, Novas are cheap to buy(well unless you buy from here/ebay), cheap to run etc and the welsh/cornish are poor people :)

FOR CHRISTS SAKE DO NOT PUT STEAM ENGINE PICTURES ON THIS SITE!!!!!!!!

I think that steam engine rallies should be just that, thrashing them down forest stages against the clock, now that would make them interesting & roll the roads flat for the cars....so everyone wins

the "trouble" starts when you pass the truro turn off on the A30 lol

pffft, Ironing is for pussies. Steam power is awesome, max torque at nearly 0rpm, power on both strokes, none of this detonation lark.... all we need is a small nuclear reactor to generate the heat in cars and we can go back to steam, 4wd with no drive train would be easy and very controllable. oh well
