View Full Version : drop down foglight idea?
ok.. so im getting a twin reverse euro light.. and i plan to wire both bottom lenses up so i have twin reverse.. eg get rig of the foglight.
but... what i want to make is a sort of drop down contraption.
the plan is to mount a cheap fog light (astra or similar) onto a bracket thing and screw it to the underside of the bumper.. so when i need the fog for mot etc i can unscrew it and turn it upside down so it is visable.. then when i dont want it unscrew it and bolt upside down so then you cant see it.. as its hidden behind the bumper
heres the idea:

anyone got any ideas on fog lights or brackets etc?
It could work yeah.
Im not sure whether theres a rule that states the foglight must be a certain height tho(so other people can see it easily), a foot off the floor isn't really visible.
Lol, your just making this way harder than it needs to be imo lol
Just fit a red bulb in the right hand, bottom holder, thus it will be a foglight, passing mot.
But still keeps the twin reverse lense(for looks).... I dont see the point in having two reverse lights, just how long do you spend in reverse anyway....
Or just fit a red bulb for mot and hope you dont get pulled when its foggy.

That's a good idea /\/\/\ you could even fit a LED bulb cluster, so it's clear when not powered
He won't listen, I've been preaching the LED bulb idea ever since he first thought of getting twin reverse lol
As for the location, thats fine (but not ideal, it'll be a bit low and personally I'd rather have one where people can see it) - JDM cars often have a foglight strapped under the bumper, but always fixed in position. I've never seen one hinged, which makes me think there may be some rule about it needing to be there all the time - if you could hinge it and hide it from view I'd have thought it would be a common mod on jap cars.
Plus, when it gets foggy you'll have to pull over, unscrew and drop down the foglamp, then continue. Which will be a ballache tbh!
Dave, I've told you that when I sell you my euro reverse (around september if you're still interested) that I'll chuck in a Red LED bulb with it!!!
