it was a 50 quid special:thumb:

i bought it like this

to be honmest i wasnt evn sure what i was going to do with it
about 6 months ago i went out 1 afternoon and took it appart a bit to se how bad it really was...and to quote a phrase"IVE SEEN WORSE" came to mind
it does need alotta work.......but at leats after a dec ent inspection i had a bit of an idea what was involved
....after logging onto this site lately and reading through numeros WIP threads its gave me a bit of a boot up the anus.........and got me back interested in novaland once again......
so anyway..i got the finger out and trailered it to work a week or 2 back

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00411.jpg
i then put it up on the ramp for a wee nosey round................and found this to be the scariest thing in below.....yuk
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00414.jpg
it needs a new front panel..................a few patches here and there.......but ive decided to save it from scrap land lol
i ordered a new front panel......................2 new mk1 wings..........and 2 new rear arches.....and theyve arrived n'all so thats a start
ive also got a 2.0 8valve sri cav by default(it was my road car untill some scumbag tried to steal it)...so thats going 2 be the doner vehicle for the mechanical side of things

its obvious that the welders going 2 get a hammering lol.....but i dont mind welding at all.....and with the we bits that need doing round the front end .....i'll also b stitch welding it and and generally strengthening it all up anyway....so a bit extra wont kill me
heres the nasty bits:confused:

Is that the same pick up in the background with a puncture??
no...................thats a different 1lol
we have 3 that are pretty much the same in work:thumb:
the orange nova is to long new..........and would take alot more work than this 1 to get it up to a decent standard again(although its not outta the question yet after this 1's finished)
i'd started 2 strip it last year................but didnt like what i was fiinding
i bought itr as a complete ****ter.....but with 10 months mot funny enough
and done a half rebuild on it...........it ended up looking good ....but i should of got a better shell to start with for it

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00561.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00566.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00567.jpg
is it just me...................or is there alot more wires in the loom of this car because its a 1.2i?????????
is that going to cause me alotta confusion when im fitting the other engine????
i also got the boot removed...............rear windows......and a few other things
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00568.jpg
and i also finished stripping off the underseal on the drivers side front inner arch
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00564.jpg
i've the other side still to do though
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00565.jpg
I'LL GET THE ENGINE AND TANK AND WOTEVER TAKEN OUT WHEN I CAN GET IT ON THE RAMP IN WORK(theres a car srtuck on it at the minute with the gearbox out)
the the welding and strengthening will begin
it looks quight good for ?50.. any cars worth ?50 because you can break it for more
i bought mine for ?37 and look at mine now.. im sure itll be a basement bargin beauty mate when its done.. itll look ace if you out the time and effort i :thumb:

i think i did alrite for 50 quid like.......
i got the car as it is........................
2 owner...........
nova 1.2 fun
its a base model
no tinted glass......
no rear wiper.....
although it has a sunroof(although i wish it didnt because i hate them lol)
the mate i bought it off had just fitted the -40 lowering springs
and i got a full set of sr 3 spokes with just 1 centre missing
and a sporty backbox along with it aswell(although i gave it 2 a another mate)
the thing i dont mind about it is that its never been tampered with......
no naff mod's
only 2 patches welded aswell (although it'll have a few more by the time im finished lol)
which is alot better than trying to go over an auld car that has been tarted up on several occasions.......with 10 layers of paint....and isopon everywhere lol

i still cant get the car on the ramp 2 get the engine and tank n'all out.................so rather than come home after doing absolutely nothing
i decided 2 make the mounts for the rollover frame that i'll b knocking together
after alot of considderation..thought..............and views of other work in progress threads.........i reckoned that i could make something up simply enough
heres the mounting brackets
front
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00570.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00572.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00573.jpg
thats a peice of scaffolding bar used to make the mount........
then the idea is 2 make the whole frame/turnover jig...........just using scaffloding bars and clamps(with possibly an occasional weld here n there)
u get clamps that fully swiville .......and these will be sufficient for the job
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00574.jpg
just something similar with the back end
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00578.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00579.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b189/shywitness14005/DSC00580.jpg
that was a well spent half hour 2nite.............:thumb:
then when the time comes to get 2 the underside of the shell................i'll just have 2 make the scaffolding frame up string enough......and high enough so the shell can fully rotate.............
its a we bit of messing about to begin with................but will save alot of hassle at a later date.....and will certainly b alot easier to work on:)
