10 thou on inlet and 20 thou exhaust
get a solid profile cam.... running a hydro on them is a major baf to get right.
Or put the head back to hydraulic, if your using a "normal" type cam.
Not mega high power range etc.

what do you mean by solid cam? as it came with a piper cam which they were used with before.
get the cam part number and contact piper for the right clearances then...
a "solid" cam is one that is a solid profile designed for use with sloid lifters and can take the gap left by clearances + has more vicious ramp rates (faster to max lift) that hydraulic lifters simply cannot take for any time.

ok i will get in contact with them
Which cam is it?
Check the number stamped in the end.

its got stamped on the end BP285HY (piper cam)
I'd imagine it's a Hydraulic rather than a solid.
Solid cams tend to be 300+ and the HY combined, probably means it's a 285 degree hydraulic profile !

but the cam was in use on the engine before i had it with the solid lifters?
should i just stay with hydrolic lifters as im keeping with injection so dont wana get a mad % cam
Yeah, stay with hydaulics.
285hy, H=hydraulic, not sure what the y represents tho.

Dont need set/check clearences.
Less noise.

ok cheers
If they are the hex adjustable ones, bear in mind they go for ?250 new... and hardly wear/lose value.

when you say hex do you mean a hex nut and thread?
with a hole in the top for an allen key yes.

cool i think they are a set of harry hockley ones, if they never need ajdusting i may try fitting them how they are adjusted atm. :)
