Right heres the scenario:

(Just to let you know, I've had big block Novas for a few years now, and now about having the outer ring milled off @ engineers.)

Few weeks back it starts rubbing like a " goodun' " lol on something

So i had the whole cambelt cover off, ground a bit out of that (at the time i thought it was rubbing on that) that sorted absoloutely nothing lol.

So i thought id get an engineers to make me up a spacer plate so that pulley couldnt rub on anything, drove it for 30 miles (sensible driving) then tonight i gave it a little bit of stick. As soon as i did it, it started whirring and grinding away again. It was loud, so loud that everyone was looking at me http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/redface.gif

I got back tonight and whipped it off to see what the problem was (yet again http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif ) and to my horror the pulley was red hot, its burnt me http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif. When i eventually stopped getting scalded and managed to get it off, it fell to pieces in my hand.

Was it just a case of the pulley was fooked all along? (you know the rubber rings in the middle) If that was fooked then the pulley wouldnt have been spinning up straight and would have caused it rub on something? Or has it now fell to pieces because it was grinding on something?

I have a spare pulley i can grind down tomorrow and try anyway, but would like to know if its going to do the same thing as the first one and my problem lies elsewhere?http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Has this ever happened to anyone before, and is it just a case of the old pulley must have been fooked already?

Thanks

Paul
