Lately ive had the notion of a Nova TD.

Mainly for the advantage of cheap insurance (points:roll:), cheap tax, cheap running, and easy mods such as turning the boost up etc etc.

Whats everyones opinions on them? I.E., how fast are they etc?

Ive had 3x 1.2i Novas and a 1.4SR and wonder what one would be like in comparison to a 1.4SR?

What are they like to use on a daily basis?

Cheers

Good motors, good torque.
A lot quicker than a 1.2i.
And quicker than a SR with the boost/fueling turned up.

Doesn't all the diesel Nova's have anti-roll bars as well?

they will sit a 90mph allday, on 0 boost, so it uses nothing in fuel lol

Great economical little engines. My Nova TD has outdragged an XR2i uphill & dropped a Cav SRi (1.8) on the motorway.

Uses next to no juice unless ranting it. Better fun than smallblock petrol engines tbh.

Most are merit trim spec, but they have decentish suspension & ARB's etc to cope with the weight & grunt from the diesel unit.

I think they are brilliant, dirty_dave from ages ago on here had one which would sit with his old SR quite happily down most roads. Can you fit a regular suspension kit to a TD or is the weight difference of the block up front that much more, needing a different kit Craig?

I think the block could be a bit heavy for crappy GMAX -60 type springs but I expect some pukka eibach or KONI type springs will cope, theres not too much extra weight to it i doubt.

btw my 3-dr TD is for sale. No MOT however.
