Novas are too old and (dare I say it) rare for scrapyards to stock and make profit on. As said, Colin Smith is your best bet - look in the for sale forums for his email address, he'll have a few threads under his username Novarally (don't PM or reply to his threads as he only replies to emails) - or take a look on ebay for people breaking novas.

Do Just Novas & Corsas in Nottingham still do stuff?

Not really, they have the odd bits and bobs but not a great deal. I think they are concentrating on Corsas now.
My local scrappie was really good for Nova stuff and they regularly had good ones like SR's etc in but now they only seem to have the odd 3 or 5 door mk2 base model.

not really, thats why Ive thrown out most of our stuff. Dont even get anything bac from breaking them, get more for weighing them in. Sad but true.

If there's a majority of Mk2 5drs around thats good for me as I will need some mk2 front arches at some point :D

no one really sells novas anymore either, looking through the paper the other day and there was only 3 movas in there, used to be at least 15 every week

if i had room id try and keep loads of spares - time to move house methinks lol

Ive not seen in a nova in scrapyards round my way in the last 3ish years.

Not many round this way, people are far too ready to scrap old cars and buy a new one, its sickenng how many cars are in the breakers needing only a small bit of work! Im guessing its this attitude that means there are very few Novas left round here, let alone in the breakers.

Few here. Ropey 5 doors & a saloon last time I looked.

The trend is for breakers to break cars in private yards here & sell parts (@ inflated prices) over the counter.

Unfortunately, mainly due to government propaganda about global warming, its considered "green" to buy a new car every 5-10 years. Not sure how a mountain of scrap cars is "green", but there we go

mad they way things are gone, this means prices will eventually go up for parts, novas will become rare and expensive, happy days if youv got a clean rot free nova lol
but not if your lookin 4 parts...

I was having a conversation with someone the other day, and we started talking about the PNG (he's not got anything to do with Novas or the site). He asked wether we were similar to the MG owners club (they have their own dealer network supplying everything classic MG).

An odd thought came to me that in the future, if we get big enough to make it worthwhile, to start stockpiling bits, and/or talking to panel suppliers to buy remaining panels, as well as other stuff if it starts to get hard to get hold of. Obviously at the moment, pretty much all mechanical bits can be sourced with a bit of effort, but that probably wont be the case in 5 / 10 years, especially, as everyone has mentioned, scrappers are slowly drying up.

Some food for thought anyway lol

ace vauxhall in stoke on trent i think i once heard bout

draper
03-08-07, 09:06 AM
MG clubs can also but new panels that are made using the original machines - wonder if vauxhall would flog us some machinery lol

Jack
03-08-07, 09:37 AM
The machines used to build Novas are probably long gone, or recalibrated/reconfigured to make the current model line.

I can remember when you could go round the scrapyards here and there would be an abundance of SR's SRi's GSi's GTE's etc etc but now all you get are saloons (5dr) and the poverty spec models and thats a rareity now. You seem lucky to see even one now whereas 3 or 4 years ago there used to be loads. Maybe its because all the higher spec models have been hammered by youths lol and so have either been written off or have failed earlier due to poor maintenance.

think of all the gte/gsi engines bodywork etc just put in2 crushers, make you cry
