It's when u get out of ur seat u twist and build up loadsa static with the man made fibres rubbin together, then u earth urself when u touch the bodywork.

Try rollin out the door onto the ground, without touching anything and then push the door shut with ur foot!! u mite feel a bit stupid but u won't get a shock! U mite also bang ur head or get ur head run over by a bus or just get soaked as u land in a puddle...
Another method would be to drive wearing pink Marigolds... shocking!

Will this take long officer?
Cos your wife is expecting me...

I get that all the time as well. I shit my door with the window. At work putting a disk in the floppy drive giving me a spark, and the switch for my scanner, never mind the filing cabinet. pisses me off

I get a big spark when I touch my car. absoulty killed. It might have more to do with my bodged up amp wiring skills then static. lol

I get shocks from my car all the time too. As i climb out and close the door it shocks my hand - even if i close it with the plastic handle or the window glass. Wierd.

Found a way around it though.
Step out of the car, place foot onto ploor and as you stand up, touch the side of the car as you stand. Works every time for me.
Maybe it is just fluke.

its purely static that builds up, esp as the weather is warmer and the air is dryer. 12v wont hurt at all, but a few KV of static stings a bit lol

Me too,

I find that using my foot to open and close the door helps.

Since I got a new clifford alarm, I dont have to touch the body work at all!
