hey hey, i know im proberly being thick here... but am i right in thinking the gearbox in my GSI would be an F13??? I need to get a new one and im not exacly sure if thats right, and cant be botherd to look lol.

Also, ive herd of people putting 1.2 gearboxes in there GSI, GTE etc etc.. What gear box would give me the best performance with the least fuss getting it in??

Any ideas welcome! Thanx :thumb:

Probably be a F13 yeah.
You'll need to replace it with another F13/F15. As a 1.2's f10 wont fit.

F13CR/F15CR is best for acceleration, but leaves the engine at high revs on the motorway. About 3600rpm,70mph is in 5th on my box.

Why wouldn't the F10 fit? The 1.2 comes with an F10 and can be replaced for an F13, so surely it would work the other way round.

Flywheel & clutch dia is bigger on the 1600. The larger bellhousing isnt an issue if putting it on a 1.2 etc

Ah right. Didn't realise the fly wheel was bigger on the 1.6 engines, always wondered why the bell housing was bigger on the F13.

As craig said, the f13 can fit a 1.2 as the housing is bigger, but the other way round the f10 dont clear the 1600 fly.

Larger dia clutch is the main reason I expect. Copes with more torque.

How much would you expect to pay for the F13? My local scrappy just offerd me one for ?85??? I thought that was a little steep, and are the F13cr boxes as easy to get hold off?

Thanx for the offer Phill but Newcastle is a little far after ive paid for the petty up there and back it will proberly work out dearer for me...

?85, fook.
I gave my old one the scrap man. lol

Usually price is about ?30. I paid ?20 for a F15cr.

Have a look in a scrappy, mk3 astras and a lot of corsa's had f13s.

I wouldn't part with more than ?40 for a CR one, ?85 seems VERY steep.

I think I paid about ?65 for my F13CR. Probably a little over the odds but I got really pissed off finding boxes on ebay advertised as CR boxes but turning out to be standard F13s after driving for hundreds of miles to collect them. I guess what I'm trying to say here is be careful when buying an F13CR box as people will lie to you and say it's a CR box when it's not, so check the serial number and make sure it includes the letter CR and numbers 418 before handing over your money.

No, the numbers ill be C394 or C374 if its a 418 its going to be a WR box!
