more than likely the CPS is fitted badly/naffed.

Crank position Sensor... mounted near the oil pump.
maybe topbuzz has a guide to test it.

could possibly be something to do with the EGR valve. your symptoms sound very similar to the ones my corsa had, an now my girlfriends is doing the same thing and that is the EGR also

Definently crank sensor/cam sensor related.
THats a sign, limited to 4k revs.

Yeah, its the sensor you can see through the wheel arch, pointing at the pully.

You can also find cam/crank sensors on ebay.

Firstly check the crank sensor air gap and plug.

not meaning to throw a spanner in the works or anything but surely a cps or cam sensor would create a lack of power or random missfire rather than whats described which is the ecu going into loss mode when it sees some bad data that it doesn't like? I assume when you turn the engine off and then restart its all back to normal untill the next time you hit 6000 rpm?
Maybe for a start stop going to 6 grand!?!
or at least read the codes thats are logged in the memory to give you a clue

Cts wont cause misfire, if the ecu see's its reading is out of range, it will just default to a preset reading.

You can check the crank sensor air gap with a feeler gauge.

Its definently crank/cam sensor related. And yeah, read the codes out as that kind of helps.
