...fit an Astra GTE XE engine? The engine is the type with the round toothed cambelt. Need to ditch my dual-v pulley for a single one :p

Have the outer v machined off.
The one you have may catch the chassis leg.

the outer pulley will fit any of the 2lts, however that wont do for your application as thats for a multibelt alternator an you need to run a v type one. Best thing is to machine the out pulley off the twin one you have, thats all we do.

I think it may have to be machined off. We can't get the damn thing off in the first place, its stuck on rather tight! WAs just looking at replacement options in case something goes a bit wrong lol

Yes :p

Its gonna have to be ground off and then drilled and tapped methinks.

Use an origonal one machined down and not an after market one unless you have the uprated oil gear.

EDIT: The General is right, just leave the origonal alone. I have on mine.

We dont know where the engines going to sit yet. I know for a fact, on mine the double will foul.

Plus we have to have it off to change the cam belt.

most of the time the outer one will foul the chasis leg, only ones it doesnt seem to is the comedy ones which sit about 6 inch lower on the drivers side lol.

They are normally stuck on good, hammer an chisel to get the bolts out then just use som new ones, saves having to drill an tap again.

Just take the bolts out and tap it off. I now know that I have a comdey engine thanks to Phil :D Certainly makes me giggle anyway ;)

lol im sure yours isnt on of the "comedy" ones, i mean the ones where the sump is resting on the tie bar on one side.

Dars does sit odd tbh, he could probably change the fecking cambelt with the engine in! Mine however, you would struggle to get a rizzla down between the engine and the chassis leg.

Jack, Just take your existing one to a machine shop and ask them to remove the extra groove.

At current state of play I'd be taking the whole engine with it lol

Its those bastid tight, ****ty bolts that hold the pully to the centre sprocket thats the problem no doubt,Lol.

Just undo the big main E20 nut, altho iirc its done up to something stupid like 200Nm. So needs some force to shift.

Yep, its already claimed the life of one of my sockets (wonder if Sealey have a lifetime guarantee lol). Air gun wouldn't even shift it!
