Hi guys,

I'm a new member from up in Scotland. Just bought a lovely Redtop last week and it wen't fantastically well on the track the whole day yesterday, suprising both myself and about 6 different passengers what it got by.

Problem is now, what can i do about getting better traction? Anye running any sort of LSD or recommend anywhere to look?

It's running an F20 gearbox, is this the best for track use as i've never in 5th or over 110 (i guess as the speedo isn't connected). I also missed 3rd a couple of times at vital moments  . I hear this is a VX thing?

Finally can comeone describe or maybe show me a link to somewhere that lets me know what kind of gearboxes I can consider as I believe there is 8 in the F range.

Thanks in advance and I apologise for all the questions.......i've held back as well lol

Cheers

Gav

if its living on track lots its worth considering a Gripper/tranx plate type diff too.

for quaiffes try pming steveboyslim on vauxsport or migweb for a better price...

Try some other forums (Migweb etc) rally sites (Chris Astley, Usedrallyparts etc) to see if there are any 2nd hand ones available.

www.rallydesign.co.uk (http://www.rallydesign.co.uk) may also be a good bet along with eBay.

Quaife ATB (gear) and Tran-X (plate) ones are the ones to consider.

If your gearlinkage is worn you could also rose joint it to improve it.
How to rose joint your linkage (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77794&page=8)

Thanks for all your help guys, i'll be following up on all the advice.

The car is predominately for ack day use. I've been advised that I should get an F16 gearbox as the track is not long, with the highest speed hitting around 110mph.

I'm going to be purchasing some sort of LSD, but i'm now confused as to whether i'm better sicking with the F20? I may have the chance oan F16.

Tom, Dar, Stuart thanks for ha advice and finding those links, mucho appreciated!!!

I always thought the F16 doesn't last long with a C20XE and assume it would be killed off even quicker on track. Correct me if I'm wrong though...

tbh it would be marginal as to which is stronger etc..
