this afternoon being as the wether was nice. She still needs a little work though.

Still wont go into 5th gear, depsite numerous times adjusting the gearlinkage and the timing is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out so its down on power soooo much! The alternator belt is that slack, it makes the cast of Hollyoaks look like dossers! And the ARB is fouling the manifold lol

Anyway, tootering about in Cannock, i met up with a G reg Silver GSi lol so game on haha, im badly tuned with 4 gears and still gave him a good go hahahaha

Next up, new wheels, remove those gash stickers in the rear windows, clean it, new GM numpers & a stint in the bodyshop.

Nice and dirty, not been washed since September sometime.

Enjoy.

Yeah it is a 5 speed, ive managed to get it into 5th, but you have to fight and mess about with the clutch pedal, not good whilst trying to drive hahahahaa

Yeah just got a timing gun on it, it runs absoloutly sweet now with no miss-fire at all, tightend up the alternator belt aswell. Once its all cooled down ill sort out the gearlinkage, blowing exhaust and try an figure out why the ARB fouls the manifold??

EDIT: Ive been meaning to change the wheels since 2004 lol i had to get a new set ASAP when i had my old ones nicked, and these were only like ?30 a rim, the theory was "theyll do for now" that was 3 years ago!!

I had lots of trouble lining my linkage up for 5th, so I put the box in 5th, held the gearstick where I wanted it for 5th and got my girlfriend to tighten it back up, hope that helps :).

Adam

I just put the gearstick roughly in neutral, put box in neutral.
And tightened the clamp bolt.

I was on my own at the time so couldn't do the drill bit method.

It worked fine lol

Did the car used to be a 4 speed? If so, theres a block of plastic on the right of the stick at the bottom that needs grinding off.

SRimon

yep i had to grind mine out for my XE...

Looks ok, I'll never understand why people take pics of dirty cars...

Wheels never suited a nova so new ones will be better!

Mike

Whats the spec of the engine?

Hello Jim, its just a standard E16SE & box with an Ashley System, 4-1 manifold and a oversized K&N. Then just losts of chrome an shiny bits lol

TomMan
01-08-07, 04:05 PM
what kind of bhp will that spec give mate?
I'm thinking of swaping something similar in to mine.
oh and nice car!

craig green

A good 100bhp maybe 110 if the engine is particularly strong.

TomMan

Thanks Craig.
Looks like an engine swap is next on the cards then.:thumb:

Thanks Craig.

its easy enough to do tbh, the engine cost me ?75 with ecu/loom & gearbox, the 4-1 cost me ?30 IIRC and the system i already had, the K&N was part of an induction kit that cost me ?38 brand new lol

IMO i reckon due to the age an mileage, itll make around 100bhp if that. Ill be very surprised of it makes more.

The G reg valver wasn't trying then. If it was he's a very poor driver if he didn't leave you for dust, lol.

I kinda though the same TBH, i mean dont get me wrong it was fast, but not really much faster then me? Altho once on a straight it really did start to shift, or that could have been me stuck in 4th running out of revs lol (had no 5th gear at the time lol)
