its not an mot fail for the boot to be open but some mot stations might refuse to test it because they are surpose to look in the back to check the seat belt mountins and the inner wings and bk seat security if they make the excuse that they want to check the spare wheel thats bulls^^t as the spare wheel is not testable
I'm pretty sure the spare is tested if its present.
Rich, I don't think the boot has to open for the MOT. So long as both your doors do, you should be fine.
Sweet, its stripped out in the rear anyway so you can see everything inside and the spare no bother, the MOT tester isn't exactly strict but just thought i'd check first.
Cheers
if it's got a catch, it needs to open.
But my lock has seized, and it allways goes through MOT's fine
dont think it matter - I recall a number of modded novas on here (DJP's old yellow beast for a starter) whos boot was actually welded shut!
mine opens if you climb threw and open it with a screw driver lol, does that count
I think it's a case of... It if technically opens, a way of opening it must be accesible.
My key lock is seized rendering it unaccesible from the outside. So for the MOT i just removed the bootlid interior trim and then told the tester it was openable from the inside. He wasn't happy, but it passed.

Dont start that lil chesnut off again - the spare is NEVER tested.
if the tester gets ****y you can clamber through and pop it manually up anyway.
Thats the way my boot opens, solenoids too heavy! lol
ste porter had the best way, a piece of string from the latch to the front seat :thumb:

Seconded and finalised!

If the spare is there and its ****ed you can only advise, not a testable item, boot only really needs to open if boot floor, suspension top etc are not in clear view. As long as the tester can see the floors or get in the back with a C.A.T should be fine, viewing is good enough really.
Even if the boot dont open usually you can pull the seats down.
lol whoops, my mistake. Just checked my manual and you're right. Must have been having a brain freeze!
